Wishing you and the lil one all the best! HUGS!!!
Blessings to you and your family.
julia got through surgery fine. We are in the cardiac intensive care unit for a couple days, then she goes down to regular recovery floor when she is breathing on her own. She’s on a ventilator with a breathing tube…lots of wires, lots of meds, etc…it was hard to see at first ![]()
She is doing ok as far as we can tell. Her blood pressure is higher than they’d like, but the Dr said that its fairly common and she may have to take meds for awhile when she gets home.
hubbys parents drove here. It was my idea, but now I kinda regret it. His mom can be so pushy in her own way, and Im feeling very much like a mommy bear right now. When Im stressed, sad, mad, etc I just want to be left alone. she never asks, she just does. like, 'we’ll be back later. or, we’re going to do this, or that, etc…grrrrr
I’ll get over it. hubby says Im doing a good job.
our other kiddo has been staying with a friend. hubby is going to drive down tomorrow to get him so he can be up here for the weekend. poor guy has been pretty bummed…calling every night crying ![]()
Thanks for all the good vibes…keep em coming!
Glad to hear that the surgery went well. Here’s to a strong recovery!
Awesome news Betty. Glad to hear it! Keep on solderin’ lady - ya’ll will make it thru it.
Good to hear things went well! Sending happy thoughts.
Thanks all.
Hospital chair recliner things are noooot comfy…I did manage a few winks…
They took the breathing tube out at about 745pm and she’s been sicky/pukey from the all meds but other than that they think she is doing fine. Star patient!
A rad tech person just came in to do another x-ray…soon the drs will be making there rounds, etc. Her blood pressure is still up but the bleeding has subsisided , so thats good.
And I’m such a nerd/health nut. I brought my pedometer with me to make laps and see how far it is to walk a mile around the hospital. And I do like 10x20 pushups and squats through the day. I just realized that I really have no form of stress relief, you know? No smokes, no gym.
As of Feb 22 I slapped on a nicotine patch in the walmart parking lot on the way up here and I haven’t had a smoke since. ![]()
Of all the stressful times to quit. But I’m doing it. :rockhands:
Chat atcha later!
YAY!! I’m glad to hear that everything is going well! And good for you for keep cool, calm and collected (and smoke free). fist bump and then super huge hug!
that is rock strong of you!
Ugh, I’m sorry you have to see your baby like this.
Hugs and kisses from me.
So glad to hear that things are looking good for Julia. Really proud of you for ditching the smokes at such a stressful time and sticking w/it. LOL about the pedometer, etc. I would be just as neurotic if I couldn’t train. You know, doing pull-ups in the doorway and what not…
strong MiM is strong, we do what we have to do to get through these things - but do allow yourself to let go a bit with hubby…
meh, i understand the quitting right now. gives you something to focus on but you cant focus on it too much… a necessary distraction, maybe… or something to hate and overcome and DO while you can’t DO anything about julia…
you’re kickin ass and taking names. all of ya. i knew yous would.
I’m so glad the surgery went well. Sounds like she’s a figher like her mum.
And quitting smoking? Full respect to you. I quit on holiday once because I knew I’d need patches to get through the 8 hour flight, so thought I might as well continue. Obviously a nice holiday to Orlando doesn’t have the same stress levels as seeing your child through surgery so hang in there.
yesterday was a big day for julia. she got her chest tube removed and she was very brave(which seems to be the running theme.) They are slowly weaning her off her meds but her blood pressure is still high.
hubby showed up with our son about 5pm…it was a bit much for him. And then Julia woke suddnely from sleeping…sat straight up in bed and was saying “I want to go see Coby!!” She must have remembered me telling her he was coming. And then she yanked an IV line out of her hand. Guess she was done sitting there? It was like she was still dreaming…
I think Coby almost fell out.
So they cleaned her all up and she got to sit on my lap! She got to wear her tiara and everyone who walked by poked there head in to say hi to the princess…
Coby went back with the grandparents…hubby stayed for awhile, then he went back to be with Coby.
We switched rooms last night. Its not a private room. I ended up staying because Julia didn’t really give me a choice
We’ll see what today brings…I think they are going to let her out of bed more and get her to start walking…knowing her she’ll probably try to run out of here! Can’t blame her.
Thanks for the updates Mim. Damn your little girl is a tough one. Glad her recovery is progressing.
Betty, I am so happy to hear your little princess is doing so well and that you are rocking it too. So bad-ass with the quitting smoking! I’ll keep on sending get-well karma to the little one.
Thanks for all the good vibezzz everyone…keep em coming!
Its a little more relieving now that the surgery is over…her blood pressure is doing well, and she is almost off all her machines/drugs. she’ll probably have to go home with some BP meds…the determining factor in getting outta here is to continue to rely on the oral meds and less on the IVs for her BP and she’s almost there!
She has been so brave and strong through all of this. The only part she’s had a problem with was when they took her folly pee thing out and told her she had to pee in a diaper. Other than that, she has been super duper cooperative…she loves DRs and Nurses. Wasn’t always that way. I remember when she would pitch a fit about getting weighed even for just a checkup.
We’ll see how it goes tomorrow. The plan is for me to drive Coby back down and to stay at the house to unwind, sleep etc…then Come back up Monday when hopefully Julia will be discharged.
I’m looking forward to the downtime tomorrow, but I know I’ll be missing my little girl.
I’m so glad to hear her BP is coming down. Julia is a little trooper. Sending all my wishes for a quick recovery.
