just an idea… my strength is shit right now, haven’t really trained for pure strength in a while but starting this week I’m training in my garage and going back to more of a strength base training style, would you guys in here be interested in a log? I think i can update it weekly at least…just don’t laugh hahaha like i said I’m weak as fuck!!!
mos def
alright then bro’s, it starts tonight, i train around 6pm tonight due to my granny’s funeral around 5 …

ill try to update/start a log tonight on this thread, when/if i get videos i will upload those too! Lets see how the strength comes back!!!

Yes a log would be cool!

Lets get this motherfucker started then!!!

monday-may-21-2012

Did raw (raw to me means no belt no wraps etc)
Speed pulls-295x2 (prob 6-7 sets) Hook grip
bent over rows-doing strict hook grip, worked up to 225 for 10 or 12
Vogelpohl pulldowns with green band
Curls (first time in weeks, due to wrist injury from olympic lifting, grip/strength coming back, pain is leaving)

First week coming off a cut from around 9%bf, up from 190-199lbs

Awesome thread here, and progress pics look solid. IN.

How do you structure progression on the big lifts?
Do you have a preset plan or just go by feel?

thanks fro the kind words!!! Much appreciated, I am always looking to improve every session, whether it be speed, weight, reps, whatever, i never plan to hit a certain weight for X reps, i just say ok today i am going to do heavy 5’s on whatever exercise i choose, so lets say tonight for example I’m probably going to do some reverse band bench to get my body use to feeling heavy weight again, ill work up to a 5rm and move on to the next exercise which i will prob do for 10-12 reps for 2-3 sets, one more exercise this same way then I’m out of the gym, i try to rotate my exercises every week or every 2 weeks, but not straying far from the squat bench DL only doing variations, i won’t do a 1RM unless i feel very good that day, my main goal is size , but at this point I’m trying to get my strength to jump back to where i feel strong again, you have to remember that at 200-220lbs i squatted 800+, benched 600+ and DL 600 + coming from a powerlifting background its hard to handle the lighter weights that I’ve had to handle while trying to look more like a bodybuilder, I’ve recently said fuck it i want to be strong again and still pursue size, so my reps may drop to 1-3 soon, i aspire to be like stan efferding/ franco columbo etc!!! Justin harris is super strong and looks how i want to, so i do think its possible and i just love training heavy!!!

You represent Kentucky well my friend. If you don’t mind me asking, where do you live around??

I’m from southeastern KY, about two hours south of lexington  ever hear of hazard or hindman?

Yup, know where Hazard is. I’m closer to the Louisville area, but go to Lex often. Plus I go to school down south near Bowling green, so I’ve been all around. lol. But sadly you are on the other side of the state

Nice, thanks for the response.

Hey, pure country dude, I like ya style.
What’s your eating like for gaining? You go clean or dirty?

No love for doubles or singles? Are almost all your sets, on the big 3, between 3 and 8 reps?
pure_country wrote:
damn it!!! i just took 15 min posting a reply to you guys and it didn’t fucking upload?!?!?!
I have this problem all the time, that is why I have gotten into the habit of copying whatever it was I was writing to the clipboard before I post. It has saved me a lot of anguish.

thanks brother! As for gaining size I don’t eat a LOT of junk but i do eat what i want, thing is i don’t really like fast food or sweets a ton id rather have bbq grilled chicken steak potatoes that kind of stuff, so the majority of my food is clean, and i do throw in some junk but not a lot, i focus on protein and calories, i don’t go crazy calories either or get really anal about it i just eat more food and drop my reps down train heavier and try not to burn a ton of calories…so i hope this answered your question and wasn’t too confusing, keep in mind i was 115lbs at 17yrs old so i have a fast metabolism!

I have been working for a while mostly on bb style SIZE training/ starting a strength phase again so ill be giving some extra love to doubles and singles on the big 3  i like to do one exercise like DL heavy then a variation for reps, kinda how i like to get er done!
