Fitone, it’s ironic that you used the word “stole” in regards to the All-Star selection, because that’s exactly what happened. Voting was open to those in China, and they simply voted for their own. It had nothing to do with how good of a player he is.
Yes, he’s a good player. No, he hasn’t played all that well lately. He may not even win Rookie of the Year (if there’s any justice in the voting). I realize you’re proud that he’s of the same ethnicity as yourself, but sometimes we have to look at things objectively.
Not, playing all that well? check the stats again DocT lowest points he scored was against the Celtics with 9points but feb 18 against the lakers 24 points and just this week against the Knicks 24 points I think he playing well. Are you just suprised and jealous that a Chinese player can do so well in the NBA?
Yes, not playing all that well. His blocks are down. His rebounds are mediocre for a guy who’s 7’5". The fact is that, currently, he’s an average player in the league.
Fitone, on another note, the comments you made about me not liking him or being jealous of him are unwarranted. I could care less if he’s Chinese, American, Mexican, Cambodian. He’s recieved a lot of hype. He’s been average this year. I also don’t dislike the guy at all. He seems to be a humble young man who has a great future ahead of him.
Would you be defending him this way if he were an American?
fitone - First off, when you say I “forgot Yao Ming”, note that my reference to Shaq was not mine, but a quote from an article. So please address your comments to Mr. Ware.
Also, endorsement contracts have nothing to do with athletic ability, just marketability. Yes, athletic ability can be marketable (Michael Jordan), but so can other things (Anna Kournikova). Yao Ming is a genetically engineered freak who doesn’t trip over his own feet, for which I applaud him. He is an excellent player, but I could list 10-20 other players in the NBA with his athletic potential.
Also, what DocT said. He summed things up very nicely once again.
DocT I sure would… So far I think the greatest bball player of all time is Micheal Jordan. There will be no better. I just love the way he moves… He is a great ball player.
Just like Larry Bird once was also. Another one of my favorite basketball player.
I don’t have a favorite basketball team. I like to watch the indvidual players. If they are good (meaning a all around player) thats the team I root for.
Take a look at NBA.com, Yao isnt in the top 50, in total scoring, is 18 in rebounds, and not in the top 10 of total blocks…yet he is better than Shaq? You can not refute hard facts.
fitone you still haven’t addressed the -Yao is far quicker than Shaq- thing. What’s up? I don’t think he’s even quicker than Troy Flavell Flave (former rapper turned NZ rugby player).
dcb Okay I goof a little on the Yao is “far” quicker then Shaq. But I do feel that he has a diffrent game then Shaq and that makes him better and that he will be better then Shaq if he can keep the level of playing at and contuines to grow from the game which I believe he is…
