Snatch Form Check

I don’t plan on being an olympian, i’ll probably never compete, but i just want to learn to snatch cause the olympic lifts are fun. Even though I don’t plan on competing i want to get effecient @ the O lifts. Critique please? Just the snatch.

Looks good nothing wrong with that. Do some videos with some weights on the bar and from the floor.

Why not compete?

I wouldn’t bother training so much if I didn’t compete. It makes your training more focused having competitions lined up.

I’m afraid to put weights on the bar because I don’t have bumper plates. I would really enjoy competing, but I wanna focus on powerlifting right now, I just enjoy practicing the Olympic lifts, they’re really fun, even without weight. I also can’t afford a coach, or a good training facility with bumper plates because I’m only 16.

And is there really nothing wrong with my form at all? :S

PL? WTF?! :stuck_out_tongue: I’m massively biased towards OLifting…

You enjoy practicing the OLifts? imagine how much fun you’ll have competing mate.

How much does it cost to join a club and get coaching? My coach runs the club not for profit, but he is in the lucky situation of having busted his ass for years so he doesn’t need to make a profit from the club. All funds go to the upkeep of the weights and bars and new equipment. My coach is retired and runs the club to recruit OLifters.

I know my lifting would have been completely different if I did not have a coach and a facility to train.

You could attack the bar faster, keep it closer at the top, but these aren’t huge things and they will improve as you lift more. Your bar work was good, do reps in a set, see how it looks.

You have the first thing down, good technique with a bar, now add some weight and see how your technique stays

LOL, I’m actually not the biggest PL fan, but I feel I can progress better in PL then OL. 'Cause I wanna become big in 1 of the 2 sports, but I don’t think I have enough time to become Canada’s best O lifter so I decided to go for PL  That had nothing to do with any aha.

It’s $457 a year. not including the facility, that’s just the coach.

Too be honest, I know everyone says you need a coach, but I think it’s possible to become a great O lifter without a coach, just record everything you do, put it online for coaches and yeah

Alright, I’ll record some more snatches and maybe some C and J’s tomorrow with weight and post em in this thread. Thank you!

Not enough time? You have at least 14years!

I swear olympians are like 25 years old aha

here’s me snatching from today, I think my hips snapped faster, I needa work on mobility, I know that, anyone have any tips on hip mobility?

115 Clean

Let me get this straight, you enjoy O-lifting but since you think you’re not going to become a world class lifter you rather choose to become good in Powerlifting, which you actually don’t enjoy? Wtf?

Pretty snappy. I don’t plan on competing again, but I still love training and live for PR’s. I don’t think it’s that weird.

Maybe it is…

I never said i don’t enjoy it, I only said i’m not the biggest fan of it.

Thank you. Any errors you can point out? And I love getting Pr’s too… Such a good feelingg

The form looks pretty good for a beginner. It’s going to be very difficult to get better at a gym without the proper equipment though.

I talked to my mom and she said I can start going to a gym with bumper plates starting the coming saturday!

Thank you beebers. Any tips?

Just keep practicing and try to find a coach if possible. The biggest help for me has been getting rid of the “jump” cue and concentrating on using the hips. Google “no hands no feet snatch” – that’s a great drill.

I have been using my hips haven’t I? :s I can’t see me jumping. And thanks, i’ll check it out!

You have, looks fine, just keep going. Learn all you can from the coach. Canada has a pretty good weightlifting set up I believe.
