Snap's Return to PLing?

I bit the bullet and had the serious bodyfat test done in a Bod Pod this afternoon. Anyone familiar with this?

I weighed in at 117.7. The results said that I had 21.6% bodyfat , which is in the “lean” category for women. Not surprisingly, the numbers are ENTIRELY different for men. After lots of analysis, it was determined that I could drop to 105.8 lb. and be at 15%. Anything lower than 15% is considered “risky” for women, with the associated health risks (cessation of menstruation). The goal is to drop to 108.8 and then drop the last three pounds via water manipulation the week of the meet.

So I’m going to give it a go. Got the diet all nailed down and am starting tomorrow. Wish me luck. This will be very hard for me.

Today: 90 minute hike with dog.[/quote]

I give this three weeks. Just kidding. I wanted you to get the “Ill show her attitude”.

You have talked about this weight class for some time, so I am looking forward to supporting you!! You can do it!!

Cutting is something I know nothing about. I am learning as I go through good guidance. I just have to be a good listener and not challenge that which I should not challenge.

I must say, this cutting business is hard work. It’s not that I feel deprived (well, it’s only day 1!), but a lot of planning is required. I’m just not used to being disciplined in this arena. And all the water. Egads. I feel like a blimp.

You are right to question me. But I’m serious this time.

Everything felt heavy in the gym this morning.

Stretch
Spin bike 10 min.

RDL
8/45
5/95

Conventional pulls
5/135 DO
3/160 mixed
3/5/180 belt

ATG front squat
5/45
5/65
3/5/85

Cable lat pulldown
3/9/90

Hamstring curl machine
3/practically no weight/8

Meant to spin for 10 min. afterwards but I totally spaced it. Plus, I was so consumed with thinking about what I needed to eat next and when. I have new respect for BBers and figure competitors. I can see how all this diet stuff can become obsessive. I’ve been advised to “not think too much.”

I’ll warn you about getting too lean. Before I moved up from 56 I was too lean and I could feel it in a lot of joint pain particularly in my shoulders. Plus I was pissy a lot.

Having said that, I’m toying with dropping to 57. It’s probably stupid but I feel too fluffy right now. At nationals I weighed in at 59 so theoretically it’s not a big deal.

Are you all still on the old weight classes?

Yeah I get that with ab work…a lot!

Sorry to derail your thread again Kp, but Mrs O can you start your log up again. I used to love it. It was like… “8 sets of Zerchers supersetted with baking a blueberry torte, while nailing new shingles on the roof” sort of stuff.

You were like a hardcore Martha Stewart.

Did you not hear on the news, northern hemisphere is experiencing magnetic decadal changes. It’ll pass.

Diet? cutting? What!! Word of warning from what I’ve read… the bod pods can be inaccurate up to 6% +/- in certain people.

+/- 6%? That’s huge!

I noticed the magnetic decadal change this last week as well. Glad to hear it will pass!

Check out John Meadows’ thread in his forum: http://tnation.T-Nation.com/free_online_forum/sports_body_muscle_john_meadows/was_thinking_about_doing_this_what_do_you_guys_think

Bottom line: if you can get the same, experienced person to take caliper measurements throughout your cut, it will probably give you more accurate results than the Bod Pod.

That’s so sweet. I do actually keep a log. It’s called Mashed Potatoes and Broken Glass
Sorry on another site.

Sorry to hijack snapper.

This got edited to delete my link. Funny you mention the Martha Stewart think because the new one is dedicated to lifting and home renos.

New weight classes are only in place for national-level meets.

Yeah. An autopsy would have been more accurate. But I thought that might defeat the purpose.

Quick in and out training today.

Bamd pullaparts
Cuff rolls
Flat bench DB press
T-bar row
Standing lat pull down
Narrow-grip seated row
OH DB tricep extension

Day 2 of diet.

Feeling strong on day 2?

Yep. I feel fine.

Diet is easy to follow as long as I plan ahead. I am never hungry. The weight is slowly coming off, which I guess is the goal in order to maintain lean muscle mass. It is a bit difficult for me as I am a “hare” personality trying to follow a diet with a “tortoise” approach.

I must not leave the O35 compound any more. I almost busted my gut laughing at a question on the beginner’s forum where someone asked if people with shorter arms get to lift off of a platform to equalize the ROM in DL. Oh my. Actually, lifting off a platform would actually create a deficit and increase the ROM. But whatever.

Tomorrow I will throw some gear on and see how squatting goes. Only six training weeks left till my meet.

Tortoises are WAY stronger than hares.

While laughter is the best ab exercise, I usually follow the “Never get off the boat” rule here when it comes to posting. Reading something like that is funny, trying to explain to him how physics works then dealing with the ensuing argument isn’t.

Good luck!

Day 2 … "The weight is slowly coming off " Ohrelee This is gonna be a looong 6 weeks
and please dont tell us how you took a big * and lost 5#s like the guys, thanks.

Played with gear for the first time in awhile.

Squat
5/45
5/75
3/95
2/115
2/130 belt and knee wraps
3/150 suit bottoms
3/160
3/170

I shouldn’t have any trouble breaking the record if I can drop the weight.

Sumo DL
5/140
3/5/165

No more sumo after today. Too much strain on my hip with the wide-stance squats.

Weighted hypers
Single-leg leg extension

What is the record? Have you said?

Is that the geared number? Looks like no problem at all. What would the record be at your current weight class?

Yes! That’s a geared record.

The record in my current weight class is 209.5. I hold it:)

The bottom line is that there are not many women my age in my weight class in my state who want to do geared powerlifting. On a national level, I am not even in view of the ballpark let alone in it!
