That’s a lot of deadlift volume. I’m interested to see how it works for you because I’ve just programmed myself 5 x 5 on deads. Did you make this up or is it based on a specific routine?

I’ll be interested to see how the volume works as well. I’m on my second round of Bill Starr 5x5 and I really liked it for all the lifts. The final week of deads 5x5 is a killer though.
Hi there!
Just popping in to say hello as I’ve finally resumed logging.
Glad to see you’re still here and looking forward to catching up on what you’ve been up to!

Made it up. I suck at following rigid programming. It’s one of my failings.
Yesterday I did an abbreviated upper body accessory workout and then drove to Colorado Springs and handled 1.5 lifters at a PL meet. It was a first meet for both of these guys, and they did awesome.
Today: Squats
Why do I love thee? I do not know. Since I have no talent.

Because pain is the feeling of fear leaving the body.
Just how does one handle 1.5 lifters? I must be missing something.
Refresh me…, you are the one that you feel like you got 0 strength gain from “gaining” weight? So do you also feel you “lose” no strength getting down to a wee 105? Thats something. You must be pretty solid KP, at 105 most (and I mean me) would look skeletal.
GREAT!! On G1 his form must make most seasoned lifters cry. He still holds the most humble award. Not to mention RIPPED!!!

G1’s form is a thing of beauty. I do so love watching a lifter with beauteous form.
Ha ha on the 1.5 lifters. My coach and I handled three lifters between the two of us. I took the two raw guys who were doing their first meet and he took the seasoned geared 275er. After his guy bombed on the squat, he took one of mine. So that’s the rationale for the 1.5.
About the weight . . . I am sitting so fat and happy right now that it will require a supreme effort (like locks on the refrigerator and pantry) to get to that weight class. I am just so seduced by the fact that the state record for squat in the old lady’s 105 class is lower than I’ve ever even opened on the platform. Surely I could break it even if there were some strength loss?
who doesnt like to watch G1??
nice work - 5x5 deadlifts is scary
see how your body comp is - after a month or so of solid training
and then see how much you want that record

Fat is not a word I ever associate with you but I hear you on wanting to drop weight to chase some records. I plan on doing the same thing for a mid-October NASA meet and have 18 pounds to go to make it into the 181’s. Luckily for me I do have plenty of fat to lose.
Good luck and I will be following.
I bit the bullet and had the serious bodyfat test done in a Bod Pod this afternoon. Anyone familiar with this?
I weighed in at 117.7. The results said that I had 21.6% bodyfat , which is in the “lean” category for women. Not surprisingly, the numbers are ENTIRELY different for men. After lots of analysis, it was determined that I could drop to 105.8 lb. and be at 15%. Anything lower than 15% is considered “risky” for women, with the associated health risks (cessation of menstruation). The goal is to drop to 108.8 and then drop the last three pounds via water manipulation the week of the meet.
So I’m going to give it a go. Got the diet all nailed down and am starting tomorrow. Wish me luck. This will be very hard for me.
Today: 90 minute hike with dog.
Good luck!
How big is your dog? Have you thought of progressive resistance on that front? It is something a lot of people overlook.
I just slashed 500 kcal of my own for the week to see if I can start losing. I don’t have a deadline though. How long do you have for that 9#?
Looking forward to seeing how your cut goes.
I’ll be cutting this coming spring and I can use the ideas.
