^^Had to cut it off here. After 18 mos. of being largely asymptomatic, my hip pain has really flared. Just hurts constantly, especially when standing for any length of time or sitting in a car. Not sure how much longer I can keep doing this. Wish I could turn back the clock. Doing a meet probably isn’t in the cards for me right now.

Sorry to hear about the hip pain.

Better day yesterday both physically and mentally. Hip had calmed down. I never can predict when it is going to flare up.

Good luck with the injury. I’m a big believer in being careful with hips, knees, shoulders, and backs. It’s awful easy to make those things worse.

^^Squatted narrow. Felt terrible. Did a wider stance and pause squats on my last set. Felt better. It’s easier for me to stop in the hole and then push up rather than try to get any stretch reflex outta it. Go figure. Suit will help with that.

Went to a USPA (actually USPLA, I think) meet yesterday in Colorado Springs. Totally cool. I was super impressed with the combination of reasonably strict judging and laxness about things that don’t matter. Might do a meet with them someday.

I’ve done one USPA meet, and I’m planning on a second in November. My experience was ok. The biggest advantage for me is they have meets about an hour from my town.

Had a really shit day in the gym yesterday. Just could not squat.

If I am narrow, I have to ratchet down as the weight gets heavier because my stretch reflex doesn’t engage until I practically hit the floor. If I go wide, I can bounce it better at proper depth but at the expense of my hip.

Just frustrating.

Going to bench tomorrow and maybe have another go at the squats if I am feeling particularly motivated.

Do you do any hip mobility work? I do a bunch of deep tissue work rolling on different devices for torture and a lot of help.

I stretch before every lifting session. But I have the opposite problem of most people. My joints are too lax, too hypermobile.

Woke up sick today. So maybe that explains things. I now believe I have been fighting this flu off for several days. Finally succumbed. So I will rest and come back next week.

But the good news is that I am heading out tomorrow for a long weekend with my sister at some hot springs at the base of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains here in Colorado. I am excited!
