Snap's Return to PLing?

Hope the surgery works wonders for your daughter. How about pistols to a slightly lower lower bench/box or add a 5 - 10 db to add to the challenge?

Hope the hot springs help you rejuvenate.

Now thats functional lifting.

Hope you get over the flu quickly!

Get well Snap. I like the new photo too. Intensity!

After nearly two weeks of influenza, I am back in the gym. Hallelujah.

Stretch, squat, lunge

Squat
5/45
5/65

Box squat
5/85
3/105
3/3/115

Solved my squat problem by squatting to a box. Don’t have to worry about the transition, dropping too deep, etc. Kind of cheating, but the suit does that for me anyway. And I have no plans to compete raw since I am too weak . . .

Really huffing and coughing between sets.

GMs
3/8

DB stepups (strict)
3/8

Full pistols to parallel
3/10

Single leg extension machine
3/8

Then helped a friend with his squats.

Enjoy your Memorial Day!

Lots of people swear by box squats. The last place where I trained, it was nothing but box squats.

Box squats really give the advantage of practicing exploding and controlling the weight. 2 weeks of sick is too much-good to see you got right back in to the action.

Sorry to hear that you’ve been feeling crummy. Hope the hot springs were restful and rejuvenating! That floor press video made me smile

Hope you’re doing well.

Everything all right there Snap?

Thanks for checking on me, Joe.

I am well. Just doing nothing amazing (understatement). Still lurking around here.

Glad you are better and love the new avi.

Nice rope work there Superwoman. Good to see you feeling better. Happy 4th.

Hey Snap, stopping in to see how it’s going.

Nice new photo.

Actually it’s a new old photo. Maybe I’ll get a new new one soon.

So my coach/training partner is having a hip replacement later this month. Which means he will be out of commission for awhile. As a result, I probably won’t be competing for some time since I like to compete geared (too weak raw . . .) and like his help with all that wrapping and strapping and spotting. I admit that he has spoiled me terribly.

As a result, I started 531 again. Hate the concept of the program but am trying to change my attitude about it since it’s something I can run for a good long time without any assistance. Set my maxes low (squat: 115, bench: 88, and DL: 175) but won’t go over 10 reps on the money set. Finished week one and had fun with it.

My joints continue to fall apart. I continue to worry incessantly about my daughter’s impending surgery and whether it’s the right thing to do. And my 15 year old dog has been missing for about 36 hours, which is a very, very bad sign. Overall, though, life is pretty damn good.

Good luck on the dog. We lost our 15 year old lab last year. As for training, after this meet I’m going back to 5/3/1 for a little while. I think it will good to mix things up for a bit. Stay strong…

Looking forward to following your 5/3/1 progress.

Oh the things we go through for our kids and dogs. Trust your Mom instincts - you know your kids and what is best for them better than anyone. In the meantime, will be thinking positive thoughts for your daughter and your dog.

Take care Snap!

Wow! Thanks snap I hadn’t even looked at the official score sheet from the meet but I see that they did credit me the 518 squat. Maybe I was delusional or there was a video review I didn’t know about that went my way. Well it’s good to know, thanks. That ups my total a little.
