This can’t be real???

How high was the starting partial?

I couldn’t believe it myself, but he did it. I was actually laughing when he started doing it because I thought he was insane. I don’t blame all of you if you call me insane.

He started with quarter squats.

if your not trolling the attempt was a lot higher then you thought or he was fucking with you and could have done A LOT more before he started out.

Good point, although I saw him start the cycle. He tested his max at 475 then squatted 605 3 weeks later. I dunno. If he was fooling me, he must’ve took it easy on the 475.[/quote]

I thought about it a bit, and I think he just simply peaked out wrong in his last cycle. 475 is probably a non-peak 1RM.

I have done Smolov several times. Never gained more than 10kg on the base meso cycle. And I have really busted my ass and consider that to be good gains.

Totally on the 13 week program I have made about 30kg progress on the 1RM a couple of times, but for me as for your buddy the last time around I did Smolov I stagnated a bit.

I just don’t believe what the topic starter tells tough. A true progress of about 60kg in three weeks is just not possible. Possibly with drugs yes, but not naturally.

There must be some details left out here.

I find a 125 lb increase more than a little unbelievable though lol.

i believe it’s possible. hard to believe but possible. i also believe 475 wasn’t a true max, and there are to many unknown variables. i’m not going to call BS on this though b/c of something simple. I’ve never tried it; on myself or others. I’ll wait to judge until I have.

Yeah, that’s pretty interesting. Maybe we shouldn’t focus on the fact that his squat increased by 135 lbs in 3 weeks. Maybe we should pay attention to the progression itself. It’s actually something that could work, although it’s safe to say that 70 lbs would be a more reasonable increase.
