“The tragic events that took place on Sept. 11th were most likely a result of this governments foreign policy - especially in the mid-east. It had nothing to do with them hating us because we are so good or the rest of the out and out lies spewed forth by the current crop of criminals in power.”
Here’s the text of the Letter to America OBL wrote. In it he explains exactly why the attack on 9-11 was made. Look really close at the things he wants us to change. He doesn’t like our system of laws, he wants us to follow the Shariah instead. He doesn’t like our freedom of religion, he wants us to convert to Islam. He doesn’t like that we loan and borrow money and charge interest on it. He claims we steal the oil at “paltry prices” despite the fact that OPEC is mainly an Arabic run group and they set the “paltry prices” we pay.
So, if we’d just convert to his religion and become intolerant of the freedoms of others. If we just give up the structure of laws and the foundations that made the Western World pretty damn successful maybe he’ll quit hating us. Yeah, right.
Sure he bitches about Palestine and a few other things that I think he might have an honest beef with but those aren’t the only reasons that hateful intolerant prick keeps sending his lackeys to attack us.
If everybody ignores dissenters or makes them look crazy, it doesn’t matter what they say. Sure they won’t get sent to a prison on the other side of the wrld or get sent to a psychiatric hospital for dissenting, but there are definite consequences for those people who break the rules. One such punishment is marginalization & ridicule.
Bush is a very savvy guy and knows exactly what he’s doing. He will be serving for another 4 years I gua-ran-tee you that.
Restless are you an American? You better be. I got very tired of seeing non-Americans put their fingers on who we should elect to lead OUR country. It’s lame really. You’d think you’d waste your fukin time trying to get your country to be as prosperous as the US.
Sorry M. Quebec, but there is a world of difference from the right not to be suppressed and the right to have a forum to say whatever you will. The government here will not stop you from saying what you will.
However, it is up to you to sell your point of view; it is not up to the government or the owners of television stations or any other medium to promote your views. The fact that no one will buy you commercial time or the fact that no one is forced to give you network time does not undercut the idea that dissent is given its place in American society. The market and common sense act as filters here – either you need to convince enough people that your point of view isn’t completely irrational and thus get it aired, or buy your own time.
You can do either, and no one will stop you. However, no one needs to provide you with a forum to spout off. Whichever you choose is up to you – if you can’t manage either, perhaps the fault lies in your message…
Steely eyes: I think I read the same article as you but I’m not sure. You see, the article I read had two main questions and they were followed by many different answers. Almost 90% of the answers as to why Bin Laden attacked cleary dealt with American aggression overseas. Yes he did complain activities that are considered by some to be of questionable morality. Such as drug taking, gambling, fornication and so on. All the things you hear so-called conservatives like Rush or Bill Bennet chastise people about. Does that make them evil to?
If the US would adhere to a non-interventionist foreign policy the way the Founding Fathers suggested we wouldn’t be in this mess.
I love liberty, oppose unjustifed war, and resent big-brother government. So it follows that I am at odds with probably most of the administrations of the last century.
We should stay out of foreign entanglements and concentrate on our problems right here in America.
