I just checked out the 1980s version of The Cat People the other night. It’s the one with Natasha Kinski, Malcom MacDowell, and William Hurt (the governor on Prison Break before he got big and fat). It reminded me of what a crush I had on Annette O’Toole when it came out.
You perve boys may be happy to rent this one for the topless swimming scene she does.

I think this show kicks ass but sometimes I wish they’d tone it down with the teenage, highschool love affairs\drama. What the hell has been going on lately? With the WB merging with UPN, and the change in time slots, I don’t know what time this show comes on, or if they’ve finished the most recent season yet.
I’m with you. This is what I mean when I say the show is “very WB” at times. I believe they’d still click with the same demographic w/o that crap.
i have thought about getting into smallville, i only catch bits and pieces of it from time to time( i refuse to watch network series, as i will NOT sit thruogh advertisements, if i hear some good buzz about a series, i will by it on dvd, like the shield, deadwood, and recently Lost).
for a smallville newbie, who wants to jump in, what is the best season to rent?

I would get season One and Season Five. The rest are up to you. Those two would set you on the whole story. If you are a real fan, Season 4 is when the Flash shows up and I liked him. Aquaman is in season 5.
…and just to make the point again, Season 5 was the best they ever made. I was impressed with every single episode…even though Lex’s father should have died after he got backslapped 50 feet away and flew head first into a windshield.

Lionel Luther is definitely a tough old bastard. hahah They love doing damage to that character.
I’ve never even seen it. But damn, in that first post of the pic is John Schneider! That guy was my hero growing up & man, he has one hell of a voice too! SWEEETTT!

Sounds like a serious man crush you got going on there.

From what I’ve seen of the season I concur. Euphoria set in when I saw Clark do the Neo-esque spring into the air to chase down a plane. I’m definitely putting that DVD into my Blockbuster queue right now.
I can’t believe Season 6 is premiering next Thursday. Wish I could watch it but I have a scheduled ass whoopin’ with Organic Chemistry that night. Thank the lord for DVR.

The Aquaman spin-off TV show pilot I thought was pretty good (the one with Lou Diamond Phillips and Ving Rhames in it). I’m disappointed that it wasn’t picked up.
The guy who played Aquaman in the pilot is playing Green Arrow in the next Smallville season.
I also saw a preview of NBC’s Heroes. This could be really good.
I can’t wait for StarGate SG1 to start back up! The cliffhanger for last season was the biggest I’ve ever seen. And their last season was one of the best. Such a good show.
Supernatural is another show I like. Also, another killer cliff hanger. Oi!

The premiere for the new season was EXCELLENT. Though I wish they would have kept up with the character of Zod longer, too bad.
Since this thread has been bumped, I appreciate whoever told me about Supernatural. I liked that one even though I think they may run out of material if they keep going to old horror movies and urban legends for inspiration. X-Files had that whole “aliens” and “government conspiracy” angle that kept them on for years.

Yay quoting yourself if fun.
Season premier of supernatural was good. A couple of iffy parts that were actually better than I thought once they revealed more stuff. Great ending.
i was lucky enough to stumble onto the season premiere of smallville, missed the first 15 minutes or so, but i know enough about the general story that i could follow. And yes, supernatural is very decent show which i started watching just by chance last year because it was on after smallville, if its audience stays with it, which i hope it does, i think it could be the next really solid showing for the network.
Okay, I’m going to have to say that the first two episode’s of this season of Smallville are some of the best episodes they’ve ever filmed. Its like they’ve taken it to a whole new level. Did they get a whole new writing staff and some acting coaches??!! haha I only hope they can keep it up!
And about Supernatural, Prof. X, I thought you’d dig it. The season opener was fantastic and the previews for last night’s episode looked great. I haven’t seen it yet. I think that they’re also taking that show up to the next level and that its on a track for a continually deepening storyline.

Unfortunately, as usual, I probably won’t be able to really watch these new ones for another 365 days.
In Hollywood, films are made by accountants. Guys who dont care at all about what actually gets to the screen. They only care about the opening weekend BO and the DVD release.
Now that the guys at Marvel and DC hve turned into pimps. Hollywood now has a long list of characters to turn out onto the screen. I know im in the minority, but i hate the movie X-men. Pick up the graphic novel that was"adopted" for the film. Days of future past was MAGNIFICENT. The film was blah.
Spiderman 1&2 was based loosely around Spiderman 160 & 161. Intro GG. It was done better but it still lacked a level of drama in the original.
The hulk??? please. Fantastic Four??? How could they miss that badly?!?!
It’s beacuse the filmmakers are out and the accountants are in.
Most movies today are greenlighted and begin production before the SCRIPT is written!
