Be the same guy who wrote this?

What is a “good movie” to you then? Some people should probably just avoid the movie theater altogether.

Heh, heh… Welcome to the winter of our discontent, my friend.

Way to take words completely out of context. The second statement is referring to those who find NO MOVIE EVER as good enough.
I see, and your first statement, that “Hollywood” (meaning pretty much all American movies) “has forgotten what makes a good story” is in no way a sweeping generalization that says everything they put out sucks. Got it.
These are usually the people who walk out of every movie they go to exclaiming, “that sucked”. I realize we all have different tastes, however, if MOST people of a certain personality type like a movie, chances are, the guy who claims it sucks simply has poor taste. Most guys who ever watched the Batman cartoon series thought Batman Begins was a good movie. So when I hear a woman talk about how bad it is, I simply ignore her opinion because it probably doesn’t mean much overall as far as actually recognizing a good movie.

I do agree that Hollywood cinema seems afraid of taking chances anymore. That is why there are so many remakes of horror movies and tv shows. The Dukes of Hazard? Did anyone see that for any other reason than to see Jessica Simpson’s ass?

Every once in a while, you run across a Quinton Tarantino or a John Singleton who believe in a story strong enough and have a style bad enough to go against the grain. However, for every one of them, you have 500 overhyped, overprocessed and over-CGI’ed pieces of sterilized crap.
I agree 100%. I was just pointing out that you jumped my shit in a previous thread when I suggested that Face Off was one of these “overhyped, overprocessed and over-CGI’ed pieces of sterilized crap”.

Although to be fair, after you took me to task and I gave you a competent answer, you were quite pleasant to trade ideas with.

And Claire Danes never got naked! I like to refer to Terminator 3 as “My So-Called Sequel”.

Wow, those were two of the more supportive comments I’ve heard in awhile. Thanks for reminding me that the problem isn’t me.

Currently I just got her a little more comfortable in the gym, and I’m showing her how to do compound lifts. She’s taking Fahrenheit and eating clean about 85% of the time. Getting in 8 meals a day in like I do is kind of challenging for her mentally (it still seems counter-productive to be eating that often). The weight is coming off, but her skin doesn’t bounce back as quickly as she would like it to.

Thanks again for the comments. Any suggestions OTHER than “get over it” are welcome.
Sounds like you’ll have your work cut out for you. I’ll wish you luck because the hardest part will be to keep her at it until it becomes a habit. The change of composition can take a long time and I think thats where alot of ‘regular’ women lose faith. The T-Vixens around here are obviously different, but it takes alot to learn to push hard enough to become a T-Vixen and love the challenge of changing themselves. Pushing past their comfort zones is what usually knocks the starters out. And I’m still not sure how to express that concept appropriately to light the fire. At least withough sounding like I’m telling her something that will only get me in trouble.

My wife has a hard time making exercise a habitual constant in her days. She really doesn’t want to do it and when she does, she almost immediately gets bored with repetition. But I think its because she hasn’t found the value of it yet and never stuck with anything long enough to see good progress. Instead, she’d rather starve herself to lose any extra padding (and of course, gain it back later). Luckily, she’s finding some activity by joining a local Curves, but she doesn’t go often enough because she doesn’t want to be home late. For a brief period last year I even had her lifting free weights in the afternoons, but schedules and summer heat ended that and she hasn’t show interest since.

Its tough to try and share the enthusiasm when they don’t show interest in pushing themselves.

For those who care, this article is discussing bringing in the Green Arrow and attempting to begin the Justice League this next season. I personally don’t know if they can pull that off without completely leaving the ‘reality’ base behind.

I don’t know about the whole JLA, but personality-wise Oliver would be an excellent foil for Clark. It would be interesting to see some of the early sources for the later friction between GA and Superman.

Yeah…her titties!

Actually I didn’t even see it.

As for Green Arrow, looks like they are doing the new version not Oliver what’s his name? Can’t remember the new guys Alter Ego. Regardless, I always enjoyed the team up of the new green lanturn and new green arrow in the comics. Which is kind of funny when one guy has a bow an arrows and the other guy has the most powerful weapon in the universe.

And I want a guest apperance by powergirl…I don’t know much about her, but she’s got hella titties!

Also, while they did a good job with bringing the Flash onto the show, I couldn’t stand Aquaman. I understand they needed someone who could swim and looked the part, but his acting was fucking horrible.

They are still going with Oliver Queen, however, I don’t know if they are going the “multi-millionaire” route. There are too many similarities between him and Batman…one person who, if they bring on the series, has got to be done right.

From Wikipedia, something I missed and have the dvd:
In the pilot of the television series Smallville, a headline is visible on a newspaper stating “QUEEN INDUSTRIES CEO MISSING,” an obvious reference to Green Arrow. Lionel Luthor is shown reading this paper in a helicopter with his son Lex Luthor during the sequence, just before Smallville’s 1989 meteor shower.

Additionally, it has been revealed in TV Guide magazine that the Green Arrow will come to Smallville in Season Six which begins September 28, 2006. His story arc will last “at least seven episodes” says Alfred Gough, co-creator of Smallville.[citation needed] It will apparently involve him forming a Justice League of sorts. “Ollie,” as he will be know to his friends, will be slightly older than Clark, in his mid to late twenties, but he becomes a trusted ally and friend of Clark by his last appearance. In addition, he will be a former boarding school classmate of Lex Luthor, and he is rumored to be a potential love interest to Lois Lane. He will be played by Justin Hartley, who was cast as Aquaman in the TV series Aquaman.

Interesting - i must watch for Green Arrow (the latest run of comics is good - the first story was done by Kevin Smith).
I liked the episode with Flash (and the nods to previous Flash dudes in the kids fake ID’s).

In fact i may well have to pick up Smallville and watch it from the start.

Has anyone ever seen the short films like Dead End (batman vs joker vs predators/aliens), worlds finest or Grayson (batman murdered - goes after joker, superman involved). While low on budget and in some cases wardrobe my hair was raised at the excitement of such story-lines.

Ho-hum i’ll just have to wait for Spider 3,Ghost rider and Iron man.

PS - Watch prison break!

Batman: Dead End, in my opinion, is the best live-action treatment the Batman character (and The Joker, for that matter) has ever received, hands down. Everyone I have shown it to, even those who are not Batman, Predator, or Aliens fans have thought it was a great piece of action filming. I guess it just goes to show that it is possible to put out a product that appeals to both the fanboys and the general public.

Okay, I know I am late responding to this thread. A few comments, questions:

 1. Lana is hot, I would hit it

 2. I thought WB went under

 3. I was under the impression that Smallville was only going to run for 5 years (?)

 4. Margaret, Clark’s mom, is hot, I would hit it.

 5. Don’t tell my wife about this post.

The Joker was good, but when he’s giving his “unwanted child” thing, he seemed to be coming out of character a wee bit.

Other than that, perfect.

 6. Yes she is. And I second that emotion!

 7. They combined with what was left of UPN and are now called the CW network. They’re keeping the better shows from the two networks, for the most part.

 8. Never heard such a thing

 9. Martha Kent is hot (Annette O’Toole. Played Lana Lang in Superman 3, the crappy one with Richard Pryor)

 10. Huh? What?! Did you post something?

I had heard that rumor and also remember them saying Clark would NEVER fly on the show. It looks like they fell back on both of those (even though his ability to fly seems to be sporadic at best). I don’t think they expected it to actually last more than 5 years, thus why they started the show with Clark as a high school freshman and followed him all of the way through school. I guess they figured the show would be over once he graduated and moved to Metropolis. It is funny how things seem to take on a life of their own.

I am personally glad it lasted this long and every “change” they made in the story line or the legend up to this point has only made it better (aside from the witch bullshit). I know I always wondered how Clark could just leave his mom on a huge farm by herself.

Was it that he would never fly or that he would never wear the suit and cape? I could swear they said that we’d never see the suit and cape until maybe the final episode. I guess the point being that when he’s accepted the idea of playing the role, it’s no longer about Smallville. Seems he’s growing in that direction now that he’s out of highschool.

About flying, I guess you could kind of say that it wasn’t really Clark that was doing the flying. It was Kal-El. Does that get them out of that snare? hahah

I agree with the thought of them not thinking the show would last five years. But, I’d never read about any time limits before.

It was originally that he would never fly or wear the suit. I personally hoppe they throw all of that out and just rename the show or something if it continues for another few seasons.

Personally, I believe there’s still plenty of material that’d fit under the banner of Smallville. He is in the period that would define why he decides to put on the outfit and become the world wide protector. Up to that point and perhaps a little further (Superman, Year One i suppose?) its still all origin story.

But it would be cool to see a show change like that…he knows the role and it could easily turn into “Metropolis” or something as Clark becomes The Man of Steel.

I like the idea of it evolving to something outside of the Smallville title, however I also think that Tom Welling doesn’t want to be type cast as a super hero all the time (Yet I heard he is doing the live action Dragon Ball Z) anyway, what about the title as “Clark, The Man of Steel” That way it gives hints to his Superman destiny without really going there from the start, as he would have to find how Clark and the Man of Steel can co-exist?

He’s a 6’4" 215-220 white guy with dark hair, spitting image of a superhero, and you know how Hollywood doesn’t like casting “large” people in regular movie roles. I’d rather they put him in Superman Returns but whatever, the movie was already dissappointing.

I think this show kicks ass but sometimes I wish they’d tone it down with the teenage, highschool love affairs\drama. What the hell has been going on lately? With the WB merging with UPN, and the change in time slots, I don’t know what time this show comes on, or if they’ve finished the most recent season yet.

P.S. I think there is some great acting in this show all around, but the two Luthors are awesome, especially Michael Rosenbaum. He has to be the greatest Lex Luthor ever.
