Sleeplessness

tall tom,

very interesting. im about due for a physical exam and i was thinking about getting a few other tests just to make sure that things are still working good with me. i will add this to the list of things to ask the doc. my bf% has most likely never been above fifteen percent. so i doubt that its what you describe… although i have noticed that im starting to develop a small but unsightful “turkey neck.” hardly anyone in my family has this and if they do they are pretty old so im someone concerned/irritated/worried that this might be another issue. most likely just blowing it out of proportion but it happens… thanks for your help.

I’ve never tried melatonin, nor have I looked for it/seen it anywhere before. Do you have to get this stuff online or is it available in the drugstore?

I’ll second that it is imperative to not consume caffeine or caffeine containing products within 6-8 hours of trying to sleep. The 1/2 life of caffeine is approx. 6 hours so it stays around your body a long time.

Here is an abbreviated list of caffeine containing products:
Coca Cola (or other dark colored soda’s)
Some light colored soda’s (Surge or mountain dew)
Coffee
Teas
Dark or Milk Chocolate
All weight loss supplements
All metabolism boosters
Any chocolate flavored product (ice cream, candy, etc INCLUDING protein shakes)
Excedrin

I just wanted to second a couple of great things I saw listed. They both are important for me, and I forgot to list them earlier.

  1. Eat before going to bed. A hungry man will sit and think about his stomach for hours before he falls asleep. Not to mention that it’s good for you.

  2. Sleep on a good matress. If I don’t have a stiff matress to sleep on then I sleep on the floor. Soft bedding will give you back pain and restless sleep.

I’ve seen alot of good suggestions here that I’ll probably try in the future. Thanks guys.
