SkyzykS's Keep Hitting It Until It Works Again Log

There are a few. PA dept. of health is reporting 48 cases in Allegheny County at this point.

I’ve always been pretty proud of our little town (Pittsburgh). We’ve got some of the best and brightest in the world working on it. @ActivitiesGuy (no pressure buddy!)

Well, you are near New York  lots of cases there

Yeah. New York seems like ground zero on this coast, and there is quite a bit of activity on the other side of the state. Still pretty calm over here though.

Wow. It’s been a while.

Have been nursing a torn calf for a few weeks but it has come back together well enough to get a few hundred hops(more than a few, less than a thousand) in yesterday before I got a few twinges of pain. Probably a few days to a week and it will be good to go.

I set up some bands and clamps and whatnot in the garage just to see how to make something like that work, and it works pretty well. Adds some new and different planes of resistance to the same old same old, so that’s nice.

Ive been on quite a few nice outdoor bike rides as the weather has been cooperating beautifully. The woman next door and her daughter the same age as Connall have been a great influence on that. We got together earlier in the week and did a 14 mile ride (7 out, 7 back) on the local rail trails. One of the best days I’ve had in a long time.

Probably more to come. Not sure why, but I lost interest in logging for a while. I’m sure there’s more behind it, I just don’t feel like looking too deeply at it.

Thanks for hanging in there, for anybody that has up to this point.

Take care.

nursing a torn calf?? when did this happen?

As long as you’re alright man.

About 2 and a half weeks ago. Playing and goofing around with a scooter, then started jumping some rope (kid play time/activity time ). Hop hop hopin away and pow! I don’t know if it was bad timing or what all went into that, but when it failed lots of pain, bruising and swelling.

A not so gentle reminder that flexability and staying limber is important!

Meh.

My head space is like a tantrum throwing teenagers bedroom, but that’s just Tuesday.

There has been some emotional turmoil from stress and poor communication between me and the wife. She’s in a high exposure, high stress position (works at a grocery store) and is afraid she’s going to accidentally or inadvertently make me sick/kill me. I’m not. I certainly don’t want it to happen, but I’m not afraid of it. In my book we should do our best, take precautions, and live under the delusion of safety- Fat, happy, and dumb. Just like in an industrial/work environment. If someone else doesn’t, that’s their bad. No need to die scared if you’re still alive.

She thinks that means I don’t care or am too cavalier about it, and I think she’s too stessed about something that we have limited control over.

I’m also not crazy about the home/school situation. I’m great with my kiddo, and have always taken the lead on teaching him. She got all wet and passionate about the school stuff (used to be a teacher) and now thinks it’s her job to tell me what to do, completely ignorant of the fact that 1. The kid is already very smart. 2.Im the one taught him thus far, and don’t need told. 3.I have no respect for someone who armchair quarterbacks real life. Either stand and deliver or sit down and shut up.

#3 is a big source of friction. I don’t need spread sheets and multi colored day planners drawn on big stupid dry erase boards. We wake up, have breakfast, then take a walk. Come back, work for an hour then relax/change lessons. Eat/play then work again. Done.

All of the cluttered bells and whistles just seem like a messy protracted exercise in telling me something I already know and do well, and sticking hands into things where they aren’t needed.

I mean, ffs, the kid is 7 and tests at 3rd and 4th grade levels. We just need to sit down and fill out the papers as a technicality. We aren’t teaching. Not from the material provided. The actual learning comes later when he isn’t bored by busy work.

So there’s that. The only time it gets messy is when I get frustrated and say something.

That, and some people are scum. She has some really terrible shitty days because too many people take the liberty of trying to feel the way they want to at other people’s expense by treating them like shit. This pandemic has brought that out in droves. I’m not surprised by people’s shitty, selfish behaviors, just disgusted by its exposure. I’d rather people went back to seething rage and passive aggression than some of the bullshit she tells me about people doing now.

I swear I replied to this one, apologies.

I don’t have the time (read, I haven’t drunk enough coffee), to replicate my original post so TL:DR: this is shit for everyone man and the stress is going to show up somewhere, somehow for everyone. I’m sure you’ve got the mental strength to get through it though.

Have some eggies too.

Also, thanks for the kind words/encouragement. I don’t mean to rant, but it felt pretty good to let that out too.

I prefer Cadburys.

I discovered my better halfs Easter egg cupboard yesterday. Probably lucky I’m not stuck in the house or this could get real ugly

Ohh. Those are good too.

I’m doing the sriracha cha-cha. That’s where I put too much on (eggs right now, but just about everything) and hop around panting and hooting like a sick howler monkey.

That’s a tip worthy of at least an article, if not a whole ebook.

If you cut them long ways you get way more surface area!

Uh oh, next thing you know he be picking up ladies!

He already has.

Kidding, but him and the girl next door love each other. She is absolutely fearless and actually eggs him on and pushes him quite a lot.

Nothing like young love lol

It’s kinda adorable. I had to check the vid, but that’s her waaay in the back where he looped around.

That’s at the bottom of the hill from our neighborhood. He won’t even go down there to ride without her.
