Edit: Was thinking about the push ups thing, and I’m pretty happy about them. They were only sets of 15 but they were crisp and strong until the last couple. A few months ago I was doing them from the knees and could only get a few. So that’s my little victory.
Bringing this here to respond because I don’t want to derail @liftangryordie500’s log, but I’m very sorry to read this and will be checking in over the course of the day to see how you’re going.
I’m down 5 lbs. from the time I typed that, and just woke up, so that’s better.
I guess my potassium got low and I really started to retain water. It seemed like the diuretic (Lasix) just wasn’t working. Like, I’d take it and nothing would happen. I noticed my weight was up for no good reason almost a week ago, then the breathing thing a couple of days ago. It’s hard to track because it’s kind of subtle, like a little bit of a bug or something without the sneezing and snots.
I knew it wasn’t too much sodium because I count that pretty closely, so I ate a few mandarin oranges and took a hand full of potassium tablets, and the dam broke loose.
Now I just feel dragged out and need to replenish.
No, not at this point. I’ll stay on top of it, but really feel quite a bit better already. When this first happened (June) I was Way worse off. Even in the absolutely worst case scenario, I’m only 10 min. away from a really good cardiac unit. Even less if they use the lights. So please, don’t actually worry (I’m terrible with that, knowing someone might be genuinely or legitimately concerned).
Subtle little dietary slips can make quite a difference. Not gonna start downing gallons of O. J. just yet though.
I guess it was. In the hospital it wasn’t clear whether it was a response to a medication (brilinta. Fuck that stuff) or what, and took about 5 days to figure out. If I went anywhere past verticle I’d choke right out, and that was with supplemental oxygen.
Once the cause was determined they hit me with a couple of shots of Lasix at like 80 mg. each, and no joke, I whizzed out 18 lbs. in 24 hrs. Most of it in the first few hrs.
So I did have some kind of lung stuff and went to the ER late the other night. Wasn’t a big deal. They did some tests, a breathing treatment and I have some albuterol to puff on for a few days. That stuff works well! Only very slight (nonexistent) pain and no more difficulty breathing. Bike ride yesterday was brief and lackluster.
Ah, 15 min. ride, covered 4 miles. Legs and lungs felt fine, but I can’t shake this tired sleepy, flat, unmotivated feeling and crappy mood. Just fucking blah.
Egg taco with cabbage. Took a handful of coleslaw mix and tossed it on the grill, a nice dash of pepper and garlic, splash of balsamic vinaigrette. Lovely.
