SkyzykS's Keep Hitting It Until It Works Again Log

Go for it! Tweek them a little, make it your own, and maybe I’ll end up trying yours too.

Finally!

Had a good ride that felt like it used to: Lungs wide open, heart steady and strong=legs warm, fast and fresh!

Warmed up for 15 min.@ 45-50ish rpm, covered 4.4 miles, took a 5 min. break, jumped back on and hit 50’s to mid 60’s in little bursts for 20 min. with a 5 min. cool down covered 6.something miles.

Saw this and made me think of you. Apparently, Oregon has. 3.5 mile mushroom trip.

Most of the patches I run into are are only a few hundred square yards, but I’ve heard of a couple of these.

I like to find the honeys for these–Entoloma abortivum - Wikipedia
which are way tasty. The honeys come up first, then the aborted entoloma move in behind them and scarf them up. They just don’t keep well/for very long. Awesome in beef stew though!

Then I come in :yum:. A nice patch really is kind of spectacular. The honeys just cover so much ground, then the entoloma look like gaint puffs of popcorn were thrown around all over the woods.

Edit: also, I hate to see misinformation on wiki, so for posterity–dont eat fully formed entoloma. They are no good.

I imagine this will always feel a bit scary for you given what you’ve been through lately. Glad it all turned out okay!

Thank you.

And yeah, I’ve gotten pretty sensitive to anything chest related. Any little twinge or tightness and I get a “whoa, what is that” kind of fear response. Starting to really dislike the cold.

Another good ride tonight.

Warmed up to 45-50 rpm for a few min., then cruised at 50-55 for another couple, pushed up into 60-65 rpm until the 15 min. mark. Dropped back into 50 or so then started running it up in waves to low 70’s, back down to 60 and so on for another 10 min.

I don’t feel like I’m doing anything anymore until I hit 50ish, and have not broken into the 70 rpm range for any significant time/effort at all until tonight, so that was nice.

I just hope I don’t get into too good of shape and end up fucking myself like some of those fitness authors write about. :joy: :joy: :joy: :joy::joy:

Thanks god you’re okay!
My grandpa just got rushed to the ER yesterday to get an emergency pacemaker put in

Well I wish him and you the best. From what you’ve said before He sounds like a pretty tough old guy. I think sometimes it’s harder on the families to see these things than it is on the subject.

In June a few days after mine I was talking to my brother and he was over in Japan doing his thing. I was trying to comfort him, but he was really upset and ended up cutting things short and coming here to see me.

So how is he doing? Resting comfortably and recovering?

Thank you! Dad called and said he’s doing good

Definitely, he should be okay with some mechanical help

That’s amazing- my dad flew over right away. My uncle is a professor at the same university so grandpa’s lucky. Unfortunately, I couldn’t

Well, if so there’s always the Hangover Diet. It’ll have you back in shape in no time at all!

Yep! These things really are amazing.

After my second set of stents we were out for a walk the next day.

Doctors advice was literally “walk it off…” :joy:.

Sounds complicated, but I guess it would be for the greater good.

I haven’t had a hangover in a really long time though. Is there any new ways to get one, or should I just go old school?

No need! You can just eat the hangover food. It works whether you drink or not, that’s the beauty of it!

I would start with breakfast at Waffle House or IHOP…

Mmm! :yum:

3 days worth of sodium on one plate!

Actually, as much fun as I have with food, I’d love to go to a place like IHOP or Dennys and get one of their cardiac trifectas with an extra side plate of bacon, sausage, and a few steaks.

Tonight:

Airdyne: a few min. warm up, then right up to 50ish rpm. Kept it there for a while but everything felt heavy and slow as I ramped up into the high 60’s? Sometimes feels can be deceiving. Kept that going in waves for 15 min. and covered 5.2 miles, avg. speed of 20.8 mph. Best yet.

Cooled off and pounded some Gatorade. Sodium was only at 600 mg. for the day. Let that kick in and hit 5 sets of 20 push ups.

By the third set it was just pushing with no real strain, but by the 99th I was gassed. The last one was complete failure.

Felt good though. I’m just happy that I’m not doing them from my knees like a few mos. ago.

Sorry if this is hijacking your thread, but grandpa is okay

Not hijacking at all. Thanks for following up on him. I hope he keeps chugging along for a good long time.

For The Record (Ohh, that sounds official!) : I don’t mind if things meander a bit. Or even quite a bit. Life has some interesting twists and turns. And I’ve found some of my best mushroom patches by stepping off the path to take a whiz.

This is your idea of hijacking? Lol. Still feel bad about blowing up yours.

That was my fault. I’m sorry, too, @anna_5588!
