just for shits and giggles, i copy and pasted that into word, then checked the count. 812. did u take that much time or did u just guess 800?

Random note: This is typical. People plant on their off-side to free up the dominant side for skills. If you are right handed and were to kick a ball, which leg would support your weight? It’s also seen in the upper arms, though not as pronounced. If you were a server, which arm would hold your tray and which hand would move the drinks from the tray to the table?

This can be very true… I saw it in gymnastics all the time growing up. I am right-handed and also right-legged… therefore I am very used to all of my weight being on my left leg… in fact, when I have to stand on my right leg in the shower to shave my left I feel all off-kilter… very funny! But yeah, most “righties” in gymnastics were also right-handed in my experience.

now, now, C…let’s not get touchy. I like your narratives by the way.

True. The only reason I asked was because the range was rather significant. Injury would be the first thing that comes to my mind because that is what is drilled in our heads day in, day out. I am left-handed but right-dominant, hence the same pattern as a right-handed person; bigger left, smaller right.

Hey you DL’ing DIVA!! How the, what the, WOW!!!

I almost broke my back pulling 225, and your doing it for 9 reps??!! Daaaaayum!

This is very interesting, as I never considered any of it. Bobbi, I am (or have recently) been a server and you are absolutely right. I recall my left bicep even growing over time with the tray carrying, and always feeling stronger. In fact, I am realizing that my rowing strength, although I feel more confident doing it with my right hand because that’s my writing hand, my grip strength is stronger in my left and it gets fatigued less easily.

Interesante.

Question for all: Does having a strength imbalance mean, when leaned out, a significant visual size imbalance?
Although it is not on the plate right now, I am considering doing a figure show just to get it on my resume for starting personal training…again, not sure so don’t bust my balls just yet (I’m also broke so I can’t afford all the stripper gear). However, I do know that symmetry is often a critical factor and want to know if imbalance occurs, how to solve it.

you?! figure?! why not go for bodybuilding? You’ve already got a great base for that…plus, no hooker heals!

but ya, symmetry…Molly would be a good one to ask…but I what I know is that you start with your weakest side first, and you do just as many reps on the right(or left) even though you know you could do more…

I have that problem with my bicep…lefty is so much smaller!! :frowning:

skye- damn lack of inflection. i never realize how shitty i come off until someone points it out. i’ve been in a relatively good mood past few weeks, actually. I’ll start using smiley faces and such.

shauna- i think the visual difference would depend on HOW much of a difference there is to begin with. molly will prolly have a better answer, but i doubt the judges walk around with a measuring tape. that being said, some people have a great eye for picking out flaws, and stuff like that.

MOST people have SOME asymmetry to their bodies… especially if they have not gotten REALLY lean in the past to SEE the asymmetry and then taken measures to fix it. However, I have very rarely seen it noticeable enough to REALLY affect them in competition, especially at the local level. If you have concerns, you can always start your sets with your weaker side (and never do more reps on your stronger side even if you feel like you are able to) and then do one extra set or a few extra reps with the weaker side… it should help balance you out a bit.

Pressing the bar is a great milestone. Congrats!

right on! you used the OLY for OHP…me too.

and i mentioned in my journal i think i may have jinxed myself…my shoulder is not feeling ‘normal.’ i felt some extreme heat coming out of it today. that is better than the popping and grinding that used to occur.

nice dessert peektures you posted there, girlie.

Kimba, Cal- thank you. I humbly accept.

T- sorry to hear that. Fish oil is awesome. My friend swears by Osteo-Bioflex. I tried it once, but I was too busy bitchin’ about the price to notice a difference
I was messing with MIM, she was having an off day.

ahh, nothing serious on the shoulder. maybe it’s some new muscle i’m building! (wishful thinking) and i know you were messing, i liked the pics, even though dessert isn’t my thing.

you’ve got me curious about this 21 day fast you mentioned…care to share?

Maybe one of these days over a bottle of Pinot…Grigio, if you will

Actually, it was a dare + bad experiment which turned out pretty good actually.
