Skinny Fat: Keep Muscle, Lose Fat

Okay, you can definitely tell by the way your body fat sits that you’re high estrogen. Luckily, most of the good ways to reduce estrogen don’t require you to slay animals. Up the broccoli a whole lot, a pound a day or more. Ditch the milk entirely and buy some Grow, Metabolic Drive low-carb and Surge ASAP. Eat tons of Omega-3 eggs. Extra virgin olive oil is your new friend. Ground flax seeds: add them to anything and everything. Get the oats out of your diet for now. But most importantly: stay the hell away from soy, it is the physique KILLER!!!

That’s some solid advice right there.

thanks a lot man. :D… i’ll pick up these items next time i head to the store.

i will still need to keep some of the soy in my diet (protein shake, veggie burger, cottage cheese)… it’s my main source of protein. and it’s a lot less soy then i used to have!

also, once i get to 10% bf… won’t I already lose the love handles regardless of my estrogen levels?
Next time you buy protein shakes make sure you buy cassien/whey shakes rather than soy shakes. It is possible to find non soy vege burgers (not that I know why you really want them in your diet as they taste like shit most of the time). Cottage cheese is made out of soy? News to me.

If you still have really high estrogen with low muscle levels then it is possible you’ll still have some level of love handels.

If your worried about your estrogen levels then go see a doctor. They could be perfectly normal for all we know. No offense, but no one here is a doctor and can’t give you a prognosis just by looking at a picture of your body.

ok maybe i should have said i was a lacto-ovo vegetarian.

anyways, i’m not a vegetarian because I have anything against killing animals. I simply just grew up around vegetarianism… and enjoy the lifestyle.

Anyways, how much more should I up my food intake by? Should I eat maybe 2100 a day? I can definately add more fat into my diet (some olive oil in cooking). I can add in more fruits and veggies as well throughout the day.

my workout plan is simple. I’m just lifting as heavy as I can using the weigh machines at the gym.

Mondays: Chest + Triceps, 15 min HIIT
Tuesdays: Abs, 20 min HIIT
Wednesdays: Biceps + Back , 20 minutes HIIT
Thursdays: Legs + 15 min HIIT
Fridays: Shoulders + 20 min HIIT

Sat & Sundays = Rest days

Ok, not to be a dick, but if the only reason you are a vegetarian is because you “enjoy the life style,” I’d suggest you consider beginning to eat some meats (fish, as a starting point maybe). I can tell you already made lifestyle changes from things you enjoyed because you have a goal. So doing something just because you enjoy it is kinda a shitty reason.

Secondly, work towards working with free weights instead of machines. Free weights are superior in every way.

i think it’s a perfectly acceptable reason. i was born a vegetarian… and i plan to stay one.

i’ll stick with the machines for now.

well i’m already having optimum nutrition 100%, which I believe is Whey protein.

i’ve had a blood test done about a few months ago… i’m pretty sure everything was in check, so i don’t think my estrogen levels are high or anything.

sigh

BTW, of south-asian ethnicity, I assume?

Well, standard blood tests usually check for cholesterol, sugar levels, etc. I highly doubt that your estrogen levels were checked. I think you’d have to explicitly ask.

Why are you just using machines? Secondly, why are you asking for advice and not taking any of it? Start using free weights.
eigieinhamr wrote:
You need way more protein. I’m vegetarian too, and I reccomend many many more eggs. You might want to go for organic with the large number of eggs (at least anti-biotic and hormone free eggs).

Don’t just eat the whites, eat the whole egg. Eat more nuts (peanuts have the highest protein). I would make vegeburger patties out of fallafal mix, because it has so much more protein (most vegetarian designed things like vege burgers suck taste and health wise)
hmm… any idea where i could get fallafal mix without soy in it? All the ones I’ve found online contain soy in it.

i’m using machines because i prefer them over free weights… my posture is a lot better, and I can lift with better form. I simply want to cut down to 10% bodyfat, while holding onto what little muscle I have. I’ll worry about muscle gain afterwards.

The falafal mix I use is from a company called N.S.M. but it’s made in Australia… Most falafal mix should only have low levels of soy, and will have much lower levels than most vege burgers.

You obviously know little about weight training. who says free weights are specifically for muscle gain and machines for fat loss? stupid. free weights are better than machines. period. You are taking none of the advice given to you. what did you expect to get told? stuff you wanna hear? you will never gain any ground if you filter out anything you don’t want to hear. It’s that “hard stuff” that makes progress. You might as well not post on this website anymore.

I never said machines were made for fat loss, thus making you the stupid one. I simply meant that combining cardio + weight training would be more efficient for fat loss, while still retaining muscle. Obviously, it’s not possible to gain muscle and lose fat at once, so I figured that I’d first cut, and then follow with a clean bulk after I get lean. I simply prefer machines over free weights; simple as that. I am working pretty damn hard even at the machines so don’t assume that I’m taking the easy way out… I lift as heavy as I can with them. My main concern is the diet for now.

I am taking the advice given to me by eigiein and am getting my estrogen levels checked out this weekend, and I plan on replacing most of the soy foods in my diet regardless of the results; I honestly never knew that soy was bad for you.

But I’m not taking the advice of the rambling idiots here telling me that I should be eating meat instead of vegetarian foods, and criticizing me for it. I have nothing against people eating meat, but I don’t CHOOSE TO. Just deal with it and fuck off.

I don’t agree with people pushing meat on you…I think that’s dumb too. People should respect your life choices. That being said, putting on muscle is the best thing to do. I tried cardio/weights. However, if I had to do it again I’d probably go all out on the weights from the get-go.

Leave him be, fellas.
You guys have ZERO experience in the “real issue” at hand. Trust me.
OP, all the best.
Enough with the thread now.

nice

know of any other soy free/low soy protein filled foods that i could substitute for veggie burgers, etc?

When I get back home I’ll post a recipe I use to make vege sausages (could be used for burgers as well) that is very high in protein/good fats/complex carbs/fibre.

Because you can buy free range eggs?

“Free range” eggs is the biggest load of crock.
not when you buy actual small farm raised free range naturally fed chickens. they taste way better and sometimes you get a double yolk. that shit never happens with the eggs from the supermarket.
