Tuesday night conditioning.

Sled drags tonight. 40KG on the sled and a strap over my shoulder across my body.

Each round was up and back twice. Each lap is 50m so 1 round was 200m.

Did 7 rounds in 30 mins.

That’s a total of 1.4KM dragging a sled.

Good solid GPP work

General life update, mostly because I wanted to process some thoughts.

Starting with the obvious, training is going really well right now. Feeling strong and really enjoying the gym and home sessions. Getting lots of comments on both my lifting and my look right now which I have to say is a nice feeling.

Work has been a little crazy for the last 2 months. I work in Logistics managing large retail distribution centers for various customers. I have been in this industry for over 20 years and that means I have accumulated a lot of experience and I am pretty good at my job. This usually means that work is pretty low stress most of the time, but it also means that when there are issues at other sites I get parachuted in to help. The last 2 months I have been working at another site that was in a bit of a pain. The operation had just moved into a new warehouse and there were lots of issues with the poorly planned and executed transition. This lead to the site manager getting moved on and my boss giving me 1 hours notice to get onsite and take over. This has meant I had to work hard for the last 8 weeks sorting out the operation (whilst still managing another 2 sites that are mine). It was been a little stressful at times but it had also been fun and fulfilling. I am handing over the site now to a new manager and it is 100% up to date. Customer is happy and staff are positive and in the right head space. This means my working life will hopefully be a little calmer for the next few weeks. At least until my boss finds another problem that needs fixing.

Home life is pretty good. My seems a lot more settled and we are having less arguments and tantrum episodes. He is also doing good at school and we have been getting some positive feedback from his teacher. This is his last year before going to high school so it’s super important that he matures a little. Currently he is on track so that is great.

My daughters are both superstars, eldest got accepted into the Victorian leadership school for next term, so will be boarding away from home for 9 weeks, and middle child is kicking goals in terms of her academic performance and in in a great space socially.

My wife and I are busy and tired and sometimes stressed just like every other couple with kids. It’s very hard to find quality time and it’s something I need to work a lot harder at. The kids still take up so much time and mental energy it’s hard to want to do much more than curl up on the couch at the end of the night.

We are getting into winter here so its getting a little colder, I have a holiday to the UK planned in June. Going to my nephews wedding and then off to Spain got 10 day days with my mum and dad and my eldest sister and brother in law. Looking forward to catching up with family and old friends. It has been 10 years since I was last in the UK. I am going on my own, but while I am there my wife is taking the kids to Bali for a week to have a break and get some sun. Hopefully the holidays will give us both a much needed re-charge.

Man I relate to that so much. I just try to make sure I give my wife uninterrupted time of her choosing. If that’s being cozy on the coach, then so be it!

Wednesday 15th May - week 3

Deadlift
Glutes a lot less sore than last week.
Bar x 10
60 x 5
100 x 2
140 x 2. Double overhand
Add belt
170 x 1 doh - happy to get this. Grip just held on.
190 x 3 RPE 9
190 x 2. Went for the third rep and it stopped 2. Inches off the ground
170 x 3 moved fine
170 x 4 moved pretty quick
Not totally happy, upper back felt pretty stiff going into the session so I knew it would be hard. Never mind, on to the next one.

Hammer Inc press (3 and a half plates a side)
70 x 3 sets -
6, 5, 5
This is heavy.

Hammer strength row
60 x 3 sets -
8, 8, 8
Heavy again. A bit of body movement on these but still working the back pretty good.

Pull ups (wide grip)
3 sets - 8, 8, 9 reps on the last one

Hammer curls
20 x 12 x 3 sets - nice pump

Not the best in terms of my deadlift tonight but the rest of the session was solid. Still happy with where I am at right now.

Coming anywhere near the Southwest?

Very unlikely. Staying with my folks in St.Albans (Hertfordshire) for a few days, then up to Manchester for my nephews wedding and then off to Spain. Going to be a struggle to catch up with family in the few days I am there. Organised a catch up with my old school mates in London, but other than that it will be all family stuff.

Ah yea no where near this neck of the woods, if you ever do find yourself down this way there’s always a dusty garage gym open to you!

I really appreciate that mate. I often think if I had the time and money it would be good to do a TN world tour and train and eat with many of the guys n girls on here. There is always room at my place if you ever come to Melbourne.

How far down the south west are you? I end up in Bath and Chippenham with work every now and again but i’m based in the midlands.

I’ve always wondered if there are people on here who live dead close but you never really know.

I’m all the way down the bottom - Cornwall, not sure anyone on this forum lives anywhere near this end!

That’d be awesome, I’ve been to Perth and Cairns, didn’t make it to Melbourne, but would love to come back to Oz, unfortunately flying the family round the world isn’t cheap, maybe when the kids have flown the nest!

I hear you. This is partly the reason I am coming back to the me UK on my own. That and the kids not missing school.
