The English side anyway. Half of me is Scottish.

Friday 17th May - week 3
Squat
Bar x 10
60 x 5
80 x 3
100 x 2
120 x 8 x 3 sets - (264 lbs)
Reps were ok, felt a lot like heavy cardio. Little bit of a lower back pump. Upper back definitely feeling the heavy squat and deadlift from earlier this week.
Bench
Bar x 10k
60 x 5
80 x 3
100 x 1
110 x 3 x 5 sets (242 lbs) - RPE 9, 9, 9, 9.5, 10
Hard work. Still happy. This is getting closer to my best. This is either a REP volume PR or matches one, I can’t remember.
Bent over row
100 x 8 x 3 sets (220 lbs)
These were proper hard. Back hurting everywhere. Nothing bad just my body hating me for trying to be 20 years younger.
Had a really nice compliment from one of the younger lifters (20 something) in the gym. When I was doing the rows he asked me if he could take some plates off the back of rack I was using. Of course I said I don’t need them. To which he replied “you look like you could lift them all”.
Now that feels good.
Lat pull downs - close grip handle
77 x 12 x 3 sets
Fk yer. Plenty of body movement by the end but Solid solid pump.
Rolling tricep ext
20 x 3 sets - 12, 10,
Arms were totally trashed. Nice
And that is the heaviest week done. Looking forward to a proper deload next week. Really happy with everything this week. My body is proper sore, like I have pushed it close to the line. Bloody good.
Lookin like a tank bro
Looking swole man!! Also glad life is treating you right!!
Damn!
Lats are looking massive
That’s the name of my hometown in the US.
There are St Albans all over the world, there is one down here is Melbourne Australia too. My home town was originally a Roman town and still has Roman ruins. The town was named after the first Christian martyr who was a Roman soldier who refused to behead someone. He was killed instead and became a saint. Saint Alban.

Thanks guys, I could still lose a little insulation but I am happy with how solid I am looking underneath.
Decided to take it easy today and instead of the usual strongman Saturday i just put on the 10kg (22lbs) weight vest and went for a 40 min walk.
I’m curious, how is your wife reacting?
My husband is often/usually the strongest guy in the room, at least around people over 40, and I love it. He doesn’t train, just likes to play on his 165 acres of boulders to move and trees to be taken down and sawmill’d and turned into structures and such.
Sadly I am not sure she even notices. I have been bigger than this in the past and also much smaller. She seems to be happy with the different versions of me no matter what. ![]()
Which I guess is the best possible way for her to feel! I’m sure she likes it, though. Women do.
Based on this weekend you could be right ![]()
Dude I hear this so much. I swear my wife is muscle-blind sometimes ![]()
Although she did refer to me as having ‘elite fitness’ to her work colleagues the other day which shocked me. I was like…you actually notice???
If yours is like mine, she understands none of this stuff and has very little interest. She always supports me when I compete and is super happy if I do well. But she isn’t noticing my big traps. She does however notice the dry hard skin on my back from the squat bar .
Monday 20 May - deload
Squat
Bar x 10
60 x 5
80 x 3
100 x 2
120 x 2
130 x 3 x 3 sets (286 lbs).
Third rep paused. Good squats. Upper back a little grumpy but all good. Seems crazy but this would have been a PR triple for me a few years ago. Now it’s a deload and I am pausing it. It always feels like you aren’t making much progress day to day but if you just keep consistent long enough, great things happen.
Leg ext
60 x 12 x 3 sets
Dumbell bench
35 x 6 - warm up
50 x 3 sets (110 lbs)
Dips - BW
One max set
20 reps. Burn baby burn
Dumbell row
40 x 8 x 3 sets
And that is Deload session 1 done. Good squats, and a great upper body pump.
