Simo - The Red Shoe Diaries Part 2.0

We have that bar too, think it’s called a kadilac bar. I have only used it for accessory work and didn’t mind it.

I am using the squat bar on the SSB setting (number 4). I should try out the other positions at some point.

I probably just didn’t use it enough to get comfortable with it, and I don’t really flat bench much anyway, so it just always felt wobbly in my hands.

You’ve got a progression planned, so it’s probably harder to just screw around. My norm was just to work up to something that made me have to go change my underpants, and then maybe a back off, so it didn’t really matter what setting I used. I liked seeing how much less stable I got on different settings.

One thing I started to notice, and I think maybe @FlatsFarmer mentioned this somewhere which is what made me really think about it, but I’m a lot more “even” on the SSB (or any squat bar with handles). On a straight bar, my right side dips on the ascent. I would do all this stuff to try to make my hips get level, but now I’m thinking it’s more of a shoulder issue. Anyway, just another plug that I like “cheater” bars.

Oh I really hope so mate. I think a lot of it is just the muscles filling out a little as I use more volume. Has me starting to think that I need to really up the accessory work and chase the pump even when I am doing strength work. Still learning how all this works after more than 30 years. I must be a slow learner.

Prepping my lunch for work today. Those who read my log will know that most days I have Chilli with Rice, although I have been playing with Tuna also lately. Well today is a chilli day but because we spent the day at the beach at the weekend I was slack and didn’t cook my rice (very rare for me but I am human after all). So I had to think quick this morning and decide do I just take the meat or find another carb source. Now If I was in a cut I would have just taken the meat, but as this is a hypertrophy gaining phase I decided to find carb substitute. I am guessing that @T3hPwnisher will like how my thinking went.
Look in the cupboard, we have bread, bread is a carb. Look in the fridge, we have left over home made pizza from last night, pizza has bread, bread is a carb. And so my lunch today is chilli with pizza. No idea what the macro’s are and don’t really care. I just know this has to help with getting bigger.

Dude, you gotta get your “chili on a cinnamon roll” game on point

But this was a solid pivot as well

I’ll give you points for creativity. lol

Another option - if you have some potatoes, throw one in the microwave to bake it and throw the chili on top with some cheese! And that concludes today’s installment of “Amy’s Advice You Didn’t Ask For”.

That really does sound bloody good.

I like chili on a baked potato but that would have required more cooking. I was in a rush. LOL

Where’s your weak point at?

That’s a great question. Going to Tag @wiseman83 cause he sees most of my lifts and can probably comment.

I feel like most of the time when I fail it is 3-4 inches off the chest, kind of in that no mans land where the shoulders / triceps kick in. Speed in general is a bit of an issue. I am typically a slow presser.

Nope thats the closest I have been. Feel like my bench has dropped a bit since last year, but mostly due to a focus on strongman and other stiff and not on bench.
