But you know I prefer it from the rear.
I miss @dagill2 he would have loved that
Video from the back might help figure out whats going and causing your knee pain.
The oblique views from front/back really show how hard your body is working to not put any weight on your left leg.
Funny that is what you see because all the pain and issues are with my right leg ??!
Yeah man, I know your right leg hurts. I think thatâs because itâs doing all the work and taking all the abuse.
You can kind of see it in your last deadlift videos. You keep the left leg pretty straight, your knee doesnât bend as much and your hip doesnât flex as much on that side. Like youâre trying to stay off of it. And the right side is a little lower because youâre leaning that way, pushing harder on that side.
But you can really see it on the very last squat video. Youâre leaning onto the right side, and the left knee is like Snapping back to quickly lock out while the weight is still on your right leg.
I think your man @wiseman83 was just having a similar problem, with the left leg not pushing as hard during squats?
Hmm lots to think about. Appreciate the breakdown mate.
Yep. It was the glute.

Squats from tonight - @FlatsFarmer and @wiseman83 videos of the warm ups from the back. You can see how there is no external rotation of the right leg and all the weight shifts over to the left.
Still happy with this top weight though. Good depth
Donât give it any more thought until the comp is over mate.
Nope not even bothered about it. Just going to be strong enough on one leg. lol

Sunday 10th December -
Today was the APL Christmas cup powerlifting meet. (Australian powerlifting league)
I have to say that I wasnât really looking forward to this one. Itâs been a long time since I got on the platform and with a few injuries leading into this I wasnât really feeling it. However I did the work in training and followed the program that @wiseman83 gave me and it was time to shut up and lift.
The meet was split into to halves and luckily for me I was competing in the afternoon. It was about a 90 min drive to the comp so an arvo meet meant I didnât need to get up early or rush in the morning.
Got to the meet a little early and sorted out my heights for the racks for squat and bench. Handed in my openers for the three lifts. Then just hung out watched the last of the morning lifters and waited till it was time to warm up.
Squat
Warms ups went
Bar
60
80
100
120
140
147.5
Then I was ready to go. I timed the warm ups well and only had about 10 mins between my last warm up and my opener.
I chose to open squat with 160KG. This was technically a meet PR and although it was quite a heavy opener for me. I was worried my knee might only have one good lift in me so chose to get something half decent to start.
160 moved pretty well, the unrack felt light which is always a good sign. I sunk it deep and came back up no problems.
For my second I chose 170KG. This was a number I had in my head that was a likely
Max for me right now. After the opener I was confident though.
I unracked it and it felt a little heavy. Went down in control and then I got off balance coming out of the bottom and my hips shot up. No lift, spotters helped me out.
Now I was pissed, I really wanted that 170. Kept 170 for my third lift. This time I was more aggressive and the unrack felt lighter. Got set waited for the squat command. Down just hit depth and back up no problems.
170 Squat - nice and. New meet PR
Next was bench
Chose 112.5KG as an opener which was a 2.5KG meet PR
No issue with this, down wait for the press command and back up. It moved pretty quick. I actually slightly hit the rack on the press but the judges gave me 3 white lights so all good.
I decided a jump to 120KG was a good idea. But as it turns out it really wasnât. Tried twice and got stuck 6 inches off the chest both times. I really need to do some more bench work next year.
Onto deadlift.
Opener was set at 190KG which was a meet PR. This moved really nice.
Chose 200KG for my second. I really wanted this one bad. I have lifted a little more than this in the gym but a comp is always different.
Stepped up, got my feet set, big breath, brace and down and grab the bar. Drop the hips, squeeze the armpits and PULL. It moved really smooth, hard pull but smooth.
Three white lights.
Went for broke with my third lift and selected
210KG which would have been an all time PR. But unfortunately the bar was glued to the ground.
Finished with
SQ - 170KG (374 lbs)
BE - 112.5KG (248 lbs)
DE - 200KG (440 lbs)
Total - 482.5KG (1062 lbs)
Not too shabby for an old man with one good leg.
Great work, @simo74! Youâre looking big and strong, and those are some awesome liftsâcongratulations!
Thanks Mate. It was fun day and a great way to round out the year. Now I have a few weeks of bodybuilding (@TrainForPain will like that) and then a holiday planned in January. I actually think it will be nice just to get my pump on for a bit.
How are you finding the super squats?
