I must apologize for not visiting your log more often. I see all your sessions on FB or Instagram so I feel like I’ve already been here. Looks like you’re still chugging along like a machine.
No apologies required mate. We are all busy people and it is hard to find the time for real life let alone this stuff. You know me mate, just slowly plodding along every week without missing a beat. Training and life going well right now. The stuff with my son for the last couple of years has been a major strain on the family but the last week since his diagnosis and starting medication have been really different. Starting to think we can finally get back to just a normal crazy life.
Did a collab burpee session this morning with a mate in the US. His Saturday afternoon was my Sunday morning. Great session, lots of burpees, heaps of push ups and some good conversation. Felt good to work at a slightly more even pace and not to blow out a lung in the first 5 mins.
A great session! 130 burpees and 415 push-ups, by my third count. Lol. Piston-style is definitely a more sustainable pace. You were going like fire. [quote=“simo74, post:8934, topic:228734, full:true”]

Good to see you pop by Oosiris. Was great to catch up and get is some burpees yesterday. Those multi pump burpees certainly add up to a few push ups when you count them back.

Bar x 10
70 x 5
110 x 3
140 x 2

Very happy with my effort on these. Didn’t feel super strong going in but managed to find something and get the job done.
Dumbell bench
40 x 8 x 4 sets -
Superset
Db before supported row
35 x 8 x 4 sets
Bench were all good. Rows were felt tough,
Managed a few half reps to finish the last set.
Great great session. Ding ding ring that bell.
Deadlift from tonight, apparently powerlifting isn’t good for building muscle. Well someone forgot to tell my body that

Someone forgot to tell Dave Tate

Haha yeah silly.
Top set from yesterday for those without IG
Back was all kinds of tight from deadlifts last night. Just got in 100 recovery burpees. I did them in rounds of 10 and had breaks in between to keep my heart rate under control. Still worked up a sweat and got the lungs working well enough, and flushed a whole lot of blood around the body.
The little voice in my head (@SvenG see I have one too) was really strong last night. I was short on time, I had to get my son fed before taking him off to an after school activity and I had a but going on with work and some home personal stuff to add a cherry on the top. This is prime time for that little voice to get louder and louder.
Things that the voice was saying last night:
“your back is a bit tight, probably best to rest it today”
“you don’t have much time and its going to be too much of a rush, do extra later in the week”
“you really should spend that time dealing with X and Y”
“it is going to be a crap 100 burpees so why bother”
“you are not getting any better at this stuff after months of doing it, maybe its time to try something else”
So what did I do. Well the first thing I did when I got home from work, after greeting the family and asking them about their days. Was to say out loud to my misses that I was going to do a quick session 10-15 mins and would then sort out my sons dinner before we went out. Her response was of course. ‘OK dear’ which is pretty much the standard response. I always take this to mean she is not really interested but she is in support of the plan and it will not negatively effect her.
Now I have said it out loud, the voice tries to shout louder but it cant, because now if I change my mind I have to explain to my misses why I am not doing what I said and why I changed my mind so quickly and that questions my integrity and there is no way I am letting that happen. So now I am borrowing my wifes will power to get the workout done (trick I got from Dan John - thanks coach). From here it is inevitable that the workout will be completed. I change into some shorts and go straight out to the garage and 15 mins later I am done.
Had loads of time for a shower, got my son some dinner and still had time for a cuppa and a chat to the misses before I had to go out.
We all have voices in our head, the trick is to learn how to stop listening.
Simo does a lil super clap before toying around with 170 kg on deads.
LOL yes Tim have to get that clap in and build some excitement with the chalk cloud. That is worth at least 1 more rep. ha ha
Wednesday 3 August - week 3
Bench
Bar x 10
70 x 5
90 x 3
100 x 1
105 x 5 x 3 sets - all paused reps (231 lbs) - RPE 7, 8, 9
105 x 5+ managed 7
Pausing these was tough tonight. Not the best tonight but kinda ok.
Bent row
97.5 x 6 x 3 sets (215 lbs)
97.5 x 6+ managed 10 reps
Good solid heavy rows tonight
Seated BNP
57.5 x 8 x 3 sets - these were proper hard work tonight
SS
Hammer curls
20 x 8 x 3 sets
Ok session. Bench wasn’t as strong as last week but the weights were heavier I guess.
That BNP is getting pretty manly.
Retro!
LOL yes it needs to have at least a 20 on each side to be manly. I got it up to 62.5 when doing SS. So need to keep pushing to get it back above that.
Hey mate, just read up a bit on the home situation you’re dealing with. I’m glad it’s improving and you’re able to be there for your son and get him the help he needs.
The amount of work you’re putting in is astonishing man. Truly inspirational.
@simo74 is the man
Thanks dude!
There you go. You learnt something to day.
