Thanks Pwn. I’ll post something up soon, just need to gather my thoughts. I don’t know about transformed but I know the thought of going back to low reps sounds really bloody good. :joy:

So what do you do when you have finished super squats and it is strongman Saturday ??

The answer is simple you do some more squats but you combine it with one of @T3hPwnisher Bad Ideas

Did the Tower of Babel with my 80kg (176 lbs) sandbag. Sandbag squats with 5 burpees after each set of squats. Started at 1 rep and worked my way up to a set of 8 reps, then worked back down the tower to 1 again. Got it done in just over 25 mins. It has been a while since i did this workout and now I remember why. It is such a ‘bad idea’

No mate, its time for my Saturday sandbag work and i like to copy (lite) your sessions sometimes. Definitely can’t squat my 200lb bag more than a couple reps so this won’t do!

Appreciate the shout out dude! You are destroying that bad idea

Credit where credits due mate. As you know by now, I am not the most creative when it comes to training, everything is simple and boring for most. It really helps seeing other people doing something I would never think of and the challenge of completing something I know others have found to be horrible is always enticing.

I just saw what you came up with for you strongman Saturday. Looks like it ticked all the boxes of hard work, sweat and suffering.

Super squats wrote up now in the Bigger Stronger Leaner section. It ended up a little longer than I thought. I must talk too much. :joy:

Got in 50 burpees this afternoon just to keep moving. Did a load of meal prep with the misses today. Cooked up my usual chilli and we cooked some evening meals for the week so it saves time after work.

I am going to reduced the calories a little now I have finished supper squats. I won’t drop them drastically in the first week. Just some small changes like drop a couple of eggs from breakfast and replace the rice from my lunches with green veg. I am going to transition to a low carb approach over the next couple of weeks. Notice I say low rather than ‘no’. No carbs takes a little more planning and mucking about with evening meals than I am prepared to do. But I can get down to very low with minimal changes.

Soreness is extreme today. Not just muscles soreness but tendon, ligaments even joints. This week will be a deload week. I will still go to the gym three days, but the sessions will all be light pump work. After that I will transition back to some strength work.

Something unusual is happening to me today:

So It is Monday lunch time (yes I know I am talking to most of you from the future), and I am sitting at my desk at work. That is not unusual or noteworthy in itself as I spend a fair amount of every day at work sat at a desk. Is isn’t great for getting daily steps in but can be useful when you are still in pain from running super squats. I did my last squats on Friday, well actually Saturday if you include the sandbag squats I decided to do. For the past few weeks the pain in my legs has grown to a point where it could no longer be described as doms or muscle pain. It was just simply pain. Pain everywhere.
As I am sitting at work today, knowing I only have a light deload gym session tonight and that the squats are done (at least the 20 reppers anyway). It’s like my legs and glutes have finally decided to allow some doms to show itself. You can not know (well most of you anyway) how happy I am to feel some good old muscle soreness instead of just pain.

I think you’ll enjoy both books Rob. Marty has a way with words not often seen in this space. And Dan John tells a great story!

Leg ext -
3 sets of 20

Lying leg curls -
3 sets of 20

Db bench press -
3 sets of 8

Pull ups -
3 sets of 5 - haven’t done a pull up for 8 weeks. That really woke my lats up.

Back extensions - done on the GHR
2 sets

Abs

Curls

Felt really odd being in the gym and training off program. Felt a bit lost. Worked up a good pump though which was the plan.

Ok so I am 2 hours post workout and it feels like all the doms from the last 3 weeks of super squats is making its way to the surface. I have a feeling tomorrow is going to be an interesting day.

Couple of interesting (I guess that is debatable) things today:

  1. I am no where near as sore in the lower body as I expected to be. My knees are still pretty cranky but legs feel OK.
  2. My shoulders ad chest are still really jacked up. Range of motion is limited and they are very stiff. Looks like pressing hard three days a week, plus 4 days with push ups in the burpees, for 6 weeks. Was a little too much.
  3. I have reduced food intake just a little, dropped 2 eggs from breakfast and changed the rice in my lunches to green veggies. Stomach feels less bloated and I am really hungry.

Back to interval burpees tonight. 37 sec on, 10 sec rest. 7 burpees per round, 15 rounds. Total 105 burpees. This session floored me, I was gasping for breath at the end of this. It is going to take me some hard work to get my conditioning back.
