Yes mate you must have beat him by a whisker ![]()
Slowly making your way to 300 lbs. Great work Simo!
Thanks Tim, getting harder for sure but Just got to keep on going.
Crazy man. Haha. You’re strong as all fucken get out currently Simo.
Typically, for most average squatters, 10-11 reps is bloody close to 75%…
Think for a moment what 75% of your current best 1rm…and it becomes amazingly impressive that you drive these sets home so well.
Getting there slowly mate but still some work to do. I guess I do ok given my vintage ![]()
Got is some more sand bag and burpees today.
Just did sandbag pick ups with 20 burpees after each one. 5 picks and total 100 burpees
Was really tired and sore this morning. Not really doms in the legs just general soreness all over. Didnt want to train and could easily have sat on the couch. But made myself get out there and felt much better after. Zero excuses, just get it done.
Burpees today. Just 100 broke into sets of 10 with 3 squats at the end of each set. 100 burpees and 30 squats. Took my time and worked through these in a bit under 14 mins
Monday 9th May - SS W3.1
Seated BNP
60 x 10 x 3 sets - 8, 8, 9
These were tough. Got an extra rep on the last set.
Bench
95 x 12 x 3 sets - 10, 10, 10
Solid reps. Really happy with bench right now.
Bent over row
87.5 x 15 x 2 sets - 15, 15
Barbel curl
47.5 x 10 x 2 sets - 10, 10
Squat
Bar x 10
70 x 5
90 x 3
125 x 20 - 19.5 because last rep was higher then the Rolling Stones. Still claiming it though. I rushed the last three reps because I just wanted to get the bar off my back. If I had taken a couple more breaths I would have got a full rep.
Dumbell pullover
30 x 20 reps - 20
SLDL
125 x 15 reps - 15
Dumbell pull over
30 x 20 reps - 20
Abs - some
Pretty happy with this one. Upped the weight on BNP and bench and they both moved well. The continuing upper body pump I have on this program is something else and my work pants are close to handing their notice in.
Here is tonight reps.
You boys are going to have to be quicker if you want to beat @SvenG to the like button. LOL
Monstrous effort, mate! Way to go.
Coming from one of the hardest working guys on here that means a lot mate. Thank you
Got a good solid cackle out of me, great stuff happening in here.
My brother, keep pushing!
Plenty to go yet mate. I now just have to slow those last reps down and get used to the weight on my back.
My back is tighter than a nuns chuff after that session tonight. Going to have to mainline protein tomorrow.
Ooooh that last rep though mate… where’s that ass to grass depth go!? lolz
Brutal and brilliant work here sir.
Think your 19th rep scared you a bit haha.
That feeling of wanting the set to just Done is real. Haha
It was a combination of knowing how hard rep 19 was, just wanting to finish and being a little distracted. I had a good friend have his first night at my gym last night and he walked over as I did rep 18. You can see me talk to him at the end. He was standing behind and to the side so didn’t interfere with the lift but I sore him in the mirror and my mind switched off a bit. All good though, there were no powerlifting judges there. LOL
Time for a little flash back and a little perspective on my journey and progress over the last few years. Those of you who have seen the Move Sweat Suffer podcast with @T3hPwnisher will have heard him talk about Effort, Consistency and Time. Of course he is the absolute best example of what that looks like in terms of his journey and improvement over many many years. For those of you who like me are the wrong side of 40, I wanted to show what it can look like for you if you just stay consistent over time.
I have been training on the gym now for nearly 6 years. I started training 2 days a week back in 2016 when I was 42 and changed to 3 days a week in July 2019. Across that entire time I have stuck mostly with basic compound movements with a barbell, with simple block progression methods, thanks for the programming @wiseman83
This video is from back in May 2018 (4 yrs ago) and here I am squatting 112.5kg (248 lbs) for a wobbly 5 reps.

Yesterday (the video is a couple of posts back) I squatted 125kg (275 lbs) for 20 reps.
If you had told me 4 years ago that I would squat 125kg for 20, I genuinely would have laughed at you.
So next time you wonder whether you will ever increase your squat or deadlift or what ever goal you have for yourself. Remember that all it really takes is Effort, consistency and time. If you don’t believe me then just ask @T3hPwnisher.
There’s drama in that set. I though I’d miss counted on rep 3. I thought - no way he’s got 2 more in him. And then the miss rack.
Serious now though - a lot of respect. There’s a lot of progress in there. And you should be proud! I know I’m not commenting much but I’m loving your SS updates. Very good. Did you take before shots? For a proper comparison? Have you noticed any gains yet? Any marked difference anywhere?
