Got in a 25 min session this morning.
Burpee squat row. Starting at 1 pump 1 squat 1 row working up to 10 pump 10 squat 10 row. Did three rounds of this. Good overall pump and fired the lungs up.
Still feeling crappy, head is still congested and throat sore with dry cough that just won’t Fk off.
Crazy you’re still getting a fair amount of work in.

I just feel tired and like I have a cold. I wouldn’t normally stop training with a cold so I am treating this the same. Every morning when I first wake I am feeling a little better than the previous day but then once up I soon feel crap again. Pretty sure I will be good in a couple more days. If not, time for a teaspoon of concrete and to harden the Fk up. ![]()
Got in a second session this afternoon, which was just 100 burpees. Got them done in around 10 mins.
Body feels ok but the throat and lungs burn when the breathing speeds up and then it gets hard. Still got it done.
Woke feeling a bit more crap today so decided the best thing to do was something harder. Put on the 10kg weights vest (22lbs) and did burpees.
1 pump 2 pump 3 pump repeat. Did a total of 102 reps.
Strongman Saturday again which means sandbag work.
1 carry followed by 10 burpees - did 10 rounds.
Wanted to stop by the 4th round but just kept grinding until I got the 10 rounds done.
Still very congested and have this Fkn cough. Carrying a sandbag with a blocked nose is now top of my list for horrible things to do.

I am actually not too bad now mate, it is mostly just a blocked nose and a headache. The lungs get a little sore from the fast breathing if I go to hard but given gym work feels easy compared to burpees I should be good to make a slow comeback next week.

Out of isolation today, still feeling a little snotty so stayed home for most of the day. Kids did a chocolate egg hunt in the morning and then we all went for a all time the beach after lunch.
I got in a simple 100 x 1 pump burpees after lunch for some active recovery.
I am going to start back at the gym tomorrow. I have decided I am going to do a feeder week before I start super squats. So basically I will do the SS program but keep the weights low and instead of the 20 rep set for squats will do 3 sets of 8-10. Hopefully I can get rid of the rest of this virus next week and feel like I have a little more energy.

My neighbors must honestly think I am a complete madman. I was struggling to breath so much after these carries my wife said I sounded like a wounded goose!!

Felt pretty good as a first session back. Squats weren’t too hard on the legs but breathing was a struggle. Glad I wasn’t doing 20 reps. The other thing I noticed was the big pec pump I got from this session and how hard it is going to be on the chest holding a bar on my shoulders for the squats.
OK so first gym session back yesterday and wanted to add some general observations regarding the layout of this SS template and how the first ‘primer’ session went.
In terms of my body and how I am feeling. I have still have some congestion and a cough and my breathing is not back to 100% yet, but it didn’t effect my gym session last night. My legs felt really good especially when squatting. Having a week where I did little squatting other than some sandbag squats and bodyweight squats has definitely given me some much needed recovery.
My right knee is a disaster, hurts daily and was hurting a little when squatting. I didn’t use sleeves last night but I will use them next week. I am pretty sure the knee will hold up fine for the 6 weeks but I a expecting it to be mad at me every day.
Other than that everything else feels good and I will be all systems go for next week.
Conditioning session tonight. Interval burpees. 37sec on 12 sec rest, 7 burpees per round, 15 rounds. Total 105 burpees in a little under 13 minutes.
Starting to feel some doms all over tonight. Tomorrows gym session will be interesting!!

Great session, full body pump. I was really surprised at how well the squats moved tonight. Breathing still a challenge over 10 reps but legs were still strong.
