Simo - The Red Shoe Diaries (Part 1)

Burpee recovery again today. Wanted to keep the reps fairly low as my lower back was tight. Decided to go with 50 navy seals. These are not easy, back and hips were clicking and groaning and chest was pumped after these. Good session.

You keep saying this like it is an actual thing.

Lol I think if I can keep doing it long enough and still progress then maybe I can make it a thing.

Navy seals vid of anyone is interested

I particularly enjoyed the look on your fave after the first one. “Why the fuck did I agree to this”

Channelling some aussie ashes strength here fella… :zipper_mouth_face:

These things require, timing, coordination, balance all things I am not the best at. What you can’t hear in the video is my back and hips popping and crunching through every rep. After 1 rep I was thinking, I am not sure I am going to get to 50 of these. :joy::joy:

Has started already :joy::stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye::face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

How are all ur burpees on ur joints?

Surprisingly I have seen no impact on joints and little impact on muscle fatigue. I am not doing the super high rep stuff like @ChongLordUno so my recovery has been good.

Friday 10th December

SSB squat
Bar x 10
70 x 5
90 x 3
110 x 8 x 3 sets (242 lbs)
Did these beltless and they were tough. Having to hold a brace without a belt really gassed me out. These were hard !

Bench press
Bar x 10
70 x 5
90 x 3
100 x 5 x 4 sets (220 lbs) RPE 7, 8, 8, 8,

Happy with these tonight. Good pauses and moved smooth. A little fatigue from the navy seals but didn’t slow me down.

Pull ups
BW +20kg
3 x 5 sets
These were hard, last couple of reps were half!!!

Prowler
80kg - 10.5 runs

Did 10 and a half runs. Tried to do a double on the last run and got to the turn around and just laid on the floor.

Fun Friday night, gym was almost empty. Good session.

They are downright tonic. It’s my go to first thing in the morning on the weekend. No better warm up for living.

I haven’t quite committed to doing anything first thing in the morning. Which is strange cause that is when I used to run. My dad ( now in his late 70s) still starts every morning with body weight squats and push ups and has done for decades. But I am starting to come around to the idea that body weight movements are indeed restorative. Time will surely tell.

Decided to repeat the Tower of Babel sandbag session this week. I did it after my carries last week and didn’t feel I pushed enough. Went at it fresh this week and manage to get to 10 reps. It was starting to hurt around 8 but I had at least 10 in my head. The problem was I had get to 10 in my head but forgot I had to come back down again. This session is just plain brutal going up you feel like you can push but on the way back down the burpees come quicker and you have already blown out a lung.

Video from today. Thanks again @T3hPwnisher for this terrible idea. I know you will get a kick out of watching me suffer at the end. :joy::joy:

Great session. I need to do this. I HATE burpees, like most of us here.
We do need a nomenclature to distinguish between whatever these are and the type I was taught, 6count with a jump. And what I actually do, which may be called a “sumo” burpee lol. As I fatigue I spread my stance to reduce the rom of the standing and jumping part

Honking like a goose there at the end, I laughed.
