Got the news I was expecting but not the news I wanted today. Lockdown extended for another 7 days in Melbourne so no way the comp can go ahead this weekend. Haven’t heard yet, if and when it will be postponed. Still going to stick to the plan and taper this week as a little deload and then will decide whats next.

Damn. Hope they can reschedule soon.

I think they will need to make is at least 6 weeks away. Its OK for someone like me if they extend a couple of weeks but for the big guys lifting proper heavy weights they will want to do a proper peak. Hopefully they will announce something in the next 2 days.

Yeah, was just referring to the postponement itself. But surely they have to delay it for more than just a few weeks, especially given the uncertainty?

Still a sucky situation for you to deal with. On the bright side, you are currently strong as balls.

Ok so it looks like comp is going to move back only 1 week. Spoke to coach and we will add back in a Friday session this week and a couple of sessions next week. No idea if lockdown will be lifted or not but going to stretch out for 1 more week. If it moved again after this week then I will move my entry to a comp later in the year. We’re back on baby let’s get this done.

I am already loving how I am feeling this week with the reduced volume. Still have some deep soreness in my legs but guessing this isn’t going to go completely. A little stiffness in my lower back but nothing really. Shoulder a little sore but still feels strong. Overall through I just feel good, its hard to explain but I feel light on my feet and wanting to train.
Coach has given me a session for Friday which is similar to last weeks and 2 new taper sessions for next week. Starting to feel excited for the comp again but still have to have Melbourne come out of lock down first. These last 2 weeks have been a real roller coaster.

Good luck Simo! A roller coaster indeed. I really hope it comes together for you on the platform. You’ve been putting in a ton of hard work. I’m looking forward to the seeing some vids/recap of the comp if/when it finally happens.

Thanks mate. Assuming it does go ahead I will definitely try and get some videos on the day and will do a write up after.

Fingers crossed that this will go ahead after all - would be a bummer if it is cancelled after all the hard work you have put in.

155 x 1 (341 lbs) - good depth, slowed a little on the way up but wasn’t hard (shouldn’t be anyway)

Quads sore to the core,right knee burning, Squats felt good.

Is that a non sequitur? Or are the squats therapeutic?

I’m not sure if it is a non sequitur. It was just 2 different statements. One was how my legs felt the other was how the squats moved. They weren’t necessarily connected.
