Thanks @ChickenLittle and @Cyrrex

So the lockdown is going to end tonight (Tuesday) at midnight. Gyms will reopen with capacity limits but it shouldn’t effect my gym. I have been notified that the competition is going to be postponed for 1 week. This is because some people have not been able to train for the last 2 weeks and also restrictions will hopefully easy a little more which will allow for spectators at the comp. As of now the comp is Saturday 14th August. This means I need to change the program a little for next week but it shouldn’t have any negative impact.

You got this! Now you have an extra week to get even stronger

To be more efficient at moving high percentage weight you must do juet that. It’s an entirely different skill to bang out a huge number of reps.

I’m learning this. Slowly. It’s such a mental game too. I’m totally capable, physically, of moving the weights and I know it. The issue for me is remembering to focus and execute every single part correctly when my instinct is just to shut off and push through.

You got this Simo

Wednesday 28th July week 5

Back in the gym tonight. Which means I have access to more weights and can keep to the program.

Deadlift
Bar x 10
70 x 5
110 x 3
140 x 3
160 x 1
170 x 1
182.5 x 3 x 3 sets (402 lbs) RPE 9, 9, 10
Warm ups were all smooth and quick. Sets were ok but not as fast as I would have liked.

Tricep roll backs
12.5 x 12 x 3 sets

Bench supported DB Rows
27.5 x 8 x 3 sets

Wasn’t the best session but got it done.

I appreciate the little dance before the lifts, feels like you’re putting on a show.

Thats some pretty smooth lifting mate, you aiming to crack the 200 come comp time?

That is the plan. These felt a little slow off the floor but I am a little fatigued so should be better come comp day.

So yesterday I felt like I was coming down with a cold, could have been a delayed side effect from my vaccine jab last week but more likely just a winter cold. Nose was running like a tap all day. Woke this morning and its still a little runny, but no congestion which is good. Back was a little sore and body a little aching also but hard to tell if this is just the impact of last nights training. With 2 weeks to go to comp I am really hoping this is a 24 hour thing and its gone by the weekend. Will stay warm, fed and watered for the next few days and use the power of the mind to make it go away.

It’s great to be able to continue hitting weights at home, but I defo enjoyed it getting back into the gym too (noting our 1x week is hardly a lockdown compared to Vic’s heavy lifting on this front). Keep smashing it!

@TM79 just me plodding along in here mate.

I miss my gym at work, which is still COVID closed, simply because of the air conditioning. I now have everything the gym has in my garage, though, except farmer’s handles and a trap bar. I suppose training in >100F builds character or something…

It can cost a bit to deck out once you throw in some decent plates, oly bars etc… prices in Oz aren’t cheap that’s for sure! I ended up welding up my own trap bar. ugly as but get’s the job done.

Sorry for derail here @simo74

All derails are welcome mate. It would be a pretty boring log without them

I’m the king of derailing other people’s logs, since my own is so boring!

Yeah, If I get a welder, which I’m actually considering doing, I will have to go with farmer’s handles first. Then, if I really want to get ambitious, a log. I like using the trap bar, but I already have a good Oly bar and plenty of plates, so I’m not really suffering from not having it.
