Shoulders: What are *You* Doing?

Which one do you guys like better- seated bb press or seated db press? (overhead obviously)
I feel like I am more conifdant with bb because dbs feel kind of awkward.

Also, what is the correct form for an overhead press? (shoulder blade positioning, how far to lower bar, etc)

Phil Heath on the brain from the other current thread.

Here’s a 2011 shoulder workout preceding the Pittsburgh Pro.

Been doing reverse band seated barbell presses lately. But thats mainly to deload the bar in the bottom position so I can overload the lockout for my tris.

But it feels good on my shoulders too.

I really like Larry Scott. Every vid I’ve seen of his, he really explains the why/how of the movement.

I really like the way he explains the movement in this video. Felt much stronger/more stable on pressing today using these concepts.

great vid, but that guys black wife beater looked ridiculous!

That guy is Francis Bennafatto(spelling?),who was a fairly popular BB in 80’s, he was critized for being too small while trying to maintain a “pleasing” physique.

Bump to add:

Today, I’ll be doing 10 sets of 10 reps of standing barbell clean and press with a 2.5" thick bar.

Then I’ll do a couple of sets each of ant, lat, rev flye.[/quote]
10x10 clean and press, ouch that sounds like a bitch

Its probably been said, and I have no interest in reading through a 10 page thread about shoulder development.

But,

John Meadows has some great advice on shoulders. I am finding the higher rep versions, partials, and lots of different intensity techniques are working really well. My shoulder workout broke down like this yesterday.

Front Raise/Lateral Raise/Rear Fly circuit - 4 rounds x 12 reps
DB Military Press - Work up to heavy set of 8, then finish with a drop set (3 drops)
DB Lateral raise - 4 sets x 10 reps + 20 heavy partials
Bradford Press / Cable Lateral Raise superset - 4 rounds x 12 reps (this was awesome, crazy pump and lactic acid build up)

I have grown substantially from including higher repetition, almost torture training on the shoulders. Coincidentally it worked for my traps, and forearms as well. Sometimes, you just need to kick the shit out of something.

Pretty sure the original author of that post was Bushidobadboy (go back to page 1 and see for yourself).

As I said, don’t wanna state the obvious

Does that mean he’s back under another alias?

I’ve been experimenting with prefatiguing delts before mil/push presses. On the ‘lighter’ days where I go a little higher rep, I like the pre-fatigue, but the lower rep, higher weight days I think I lose too much and do the isolation work after the heavy sets.

I been doing this EXACT same thing for years now…don’t see why I would change it. It works beautifully.

Wasn’t sure of that myself as that post was quoted on page 1 and attributed to alteredstate, even though Bushidobadboy was still an active poster (and responded to the reply) during that time. I’m not all that familiar how the quoting system works with things like this.

I did nothing but military press for nearly a year and my shoulder has definitely gotten a lot better as my press gets stronger. Recently, progress have stalled in terms of strength so I am trying to incorporate something new.

Military Press 3x5-8 + 1x12-15
Heavy Partial Lateral Raise (JM) 2x25-30
Machine Rear Delt Flyes 3x25-30
Machine Side Raise 1x20-30 emphasis on slow negatives

Puts my shoulder on fire every time.
