Shoulder Problems

Hey everyone, I am new to this board as my buddy told me about this site so I decided to check it out.

Anyways, for the last 6 years or so, I have a shoulder injury from playing hockey. I have had two surgeries on this shoulder, and it seems to be fairly stable now that I am not playing anymore. However, this shoulder seems to give me problems when trying to do anything lifting above my head or where my shoulder/arm is in the air unstable.

Because of this, I have a terrible time with doing any sort of barbell or dumbbell bench press motions. I have tried using the machines, but it seems that my right shoulder and muscles take over for my left side, thus, resulting in an unbalanced structure. In addition, it limits the amount of weight that I can do since my right arm is more stable than my left.

Does anyone have any advice of some workouts or things I could do to prevent my shoulder from being unstable?
