So my buddy and I were (trying) to do one handed push ups…just messing around and what not after training. Anyway, when I did the push up with my left hand…I heard this weird (slight) pop and click noise in my left shoulder. This was followed by a sudden pain. I iced my shoulder right away for a long while and took some advil and the pain has subsided for the most part.
- When I lift my hand over my head there is some pain (shoulder press motion)…not severe but its pretty uncomfortable.
- When I do a “lateral raise” type movement…it hurts after lifting 90 degrees…(hope I got the ‘degree’ right). Basically, when its straight out to my side its not problem…going upward past that…some pain kicks in.
- I can put my arm out to the side with no problem and lower it slowly with no problem or assistance.
-It hurts when I push against a wall (similar to a push up motion but against a wall). - I have basic mobility. It doesnt hurt to pick up things or just do basic things.
- It does hurt when moving my arm inward (across my body).
My doctor is a family friend of mine so I texted him and he said to come in next week. Im just anxious and would like to know if anyone here experienced the same injury and if so…what type of injury is it? Recovery time? Serious?
I just hope and pray that its not my rotator cuff. Ive read that it takes MONTHS to recover and you cant do any upper body exercises for at least 6-8 weeks. This would suck big time. I hope its just a simple case of tendinitis or just some swelling/inflammation that can be healed with a week or two off.
Anyway, all advice and help is greatly appreciated. Thanks gentlemen.
