Shoulder Neck Pinch

CT, Shoulder issue during benching. Thought of you, if you can’t answer, I understand. I am 54 and workout 4-5 days on. I go through cycles of heavy & moderate. I am only 5’10 and 175 natural, not lifting tremendous weight.

When my bench starts to get heavy I get a pinch in right anterior delt that
runs up into my neck. I have to layoff, do other exercises and then slowly work back into my benching. Feeling good, I again start raising the weight slowly and bam the pinch is back. I can perform a power fly - no prob. Parallel DB decline press - no prob. For me I could just stick with what I can do for chest. I have worked on posture related exercises such Kelso’s shrug book.

I relearned my bench, as I believe I was not planting my right scapula as well as I was my left. When I stick with an exercise, high pull,
deadlift, cycle squat, I make good gains and enjoy the work- except for the bench press. -CD
