Ok, I seem to have a weird issue with my right should. I am not sure exactly how to describe it, but I’ll the list symptoms.
Bench…I have really hard time not flaring my right side
OH press…some time I inadvertently shift my hips to right and struggle to keep my right arm from trying to fly back.
DB Presses. My left and right don’t feel the same. The right goes all over the place sometimes.
BB Curls. I just noticed this. my right elbow tends the want flair out away from my side.
Strength…my right arm is stronger on things like curls and rows, my right tri might be a little bit weaker, but not enough to cause this issue. My right arm is smaller then my left, by a lot. 1 inch. my right rear delt is smaller than my left too, but it is stronger.
Basically, when my shoulder bothers me it feels like it pulled a little forward. I have had art done on it. The build up is mostly in chest right below my shoulder. This fixes the probable for a few months, but it comes back.
I remember reading that shoulder issues can be a manifestation of some sort of issue with the opposite hip. As it turns out my left hip/glute is quite a bit less flexible than my right. However, it never hurts or causes me any problems in that area.
What are your thoughts? Should I take a trip to a physical therapist? I am not really sure where to go from here.
I had a few of the same symptoms (flairing and weakness) in my left shoulder. My left shoulder has always been a little weaker than my right but not this bad. My shoulder also ached after chest or shoulder exercises.
I still have no idea what it was but I switched from barbell bench, barbell incline bench and barbell OH press to barbell bench, incline dumbells and one arm dumbell OH press. My shoulder problem cleared up quickly after those changes.
Not to hijack the thread, but to avoid making a new thread on shoulder issues…
I get a pain in my right shoulder, a sharp pain inside where my anterior deltoid is located, when doing heavy pressing. I’ve done alot of upper back and external rotation work for a couple months but it doesn’t seem to be helping.
Any tips? I just hope I’m not geneticaly predisposed to have shoulder problems and not be able to press. =(
Yeah thats basically art. This works, but it comes back. I am trying to figure out why it comes back. I should probably point out that my flair issue really happen when my shoulder is bothering me.

Have you actually underwent professional ART yourself. I have and do and find I need to return to the office every other month or so. As you say once you body gets a bad pattern it tends to return. Clearly you have either some sort of impingement and/or excessive scar tissue like in either the shoulder or armpit/lat. I’d get me some professional ART, you might need three visits to really break up the adhesions and stuff. Then don’t be surprised if you need to be back in six weeks and then every six weeks for the next six months.

Yes, I had done professionally. You might be right about just needed a few more visits. This really only the second time it has come back and it is not nearly as bad as it was the first time.
The more weight you lift the more that weight is going to strain your muscles and especially joints since those barring excessive hgh usage don’t grow and change in size. I initially started ART in 2005. I did 4-5 sessions over 3 weeks and was even told then it was best if I maintained my bosdy with a visit every 6-8 weeks or so. I ignored the advice the first time. I waited probably six months before I needed to come in. Now its just easier to go in every other month or so as a routine rather than waiting for some acute minor injury to necessitate going in. In fact my recent surge in strength has required even extra treatments. Again, the more you lift the more you need. I know of the elite level powerlifters are getting weekly treatment.
