Hi
I have a shoulder injury that has become quite serious. It happened a couple of years ago in a mixed martial arts competition the guy pulled my arm back in an attempt to get me to submit. At the time I felt nothing but after a few days knew there was something serious going on.
I trained really carefully for a while and then it all but went away. I had two years of relative pain free training and then out of the blue the trouble started. So recently I went to a physio to have it looked at. Well my muscle on the side slightly back is full of scar tissue. When I thought things were going well I was tearing the shoulder slowly and creating more problems. I am at the point now where I fix it or there will have to be surgery.
I have built a modest physique over the last 3 or 4 years of training. The last 2 have been my best because that is when I found t-mag! I don’t want all that work to go to waste while I rehabilitate this shoulder over the next 2 to 3 months.
I know that I can still train calves, abs and legs on the leg press. Squats with pulling the shoulder back may not be a good idea. However, can I do deadlift and strict arm work? Isolate the biceps and triceps and be really careful? I have lived off compound stuff over the last 2 years and that is where the size has come from. So even talking isolation bothers me but I will do anything.
I plan to use those the articles published on this great site in connection with the shoulder to rehabilitate it. Maybe I am being naive about this. The doctors just want to operate but I am not going that route. Call me stubborn but I don’t think that is the answer!!
What can I do? How can I train? I mean this can be turned around I believe that and I am sure I can get bigger legs at the same time.
Anyone been where I am? Anyone that can help?
Please??
