a buddy of mine said that lifting heavy weight requires a lot more fat to lubricate the joints and repair microtears in the tendons.
so in addition to fish oil i think ill grab up some flax or coconut oil too.

Train right, and your muscles will protect your joints and tendons. You’re going about things ass-backwards.
do the broomstick shoulder stretch
glucosamine sucks
And have you tried the broomstick shoulder stretch?
You’ve been told a lot more than that. Or are you saying that you missed all the posts with links to articles about dealing with shoulder pain? Did you even read any of them? Did you try any of the exercises and stretches suggested in them to see if they are helpful or you can even do them without pain?
I told you that you might need to work on lower and mid trap activation and scapular function, but you simply said your traps were fine because your deadlift numbers.
I notice that you haven’t gone into any detail at all about what kind of shoulder pain you are dealing with other than to say that they are ‘killing me a lot lately’. I’m not sure what kind of advice you were expecting with no details.

heard too many say that glycosamine is worthless to dismiss it.
Have any tubing?
Grab the tubing or a rope or whatever and in the wide grip overhand position pass it in a circle up and over your head and back. 50 reps per day. Narrow your grip if too easy.
Try it for a week.
have a vid of said exercise?
Hey Dub… I just realized my LONG post was what you prescribed in a few words. LOL
Here’s a vid:

Holy fuck that guys shoulders are flexible, I need to start working on that, as well as other shoulder “savers” too - my left one is bothering me again and slowing my progress down.
I just did the broomstick stretches for the first time tonight. Well i used a rolled towel, but yeah.
I had to keep my hands at the very ends of the towel in order to do them without bending my arms at all. Is this normal for somebody who has not done these before? I’ve never been flexible at all but damn.

perfectly normal. Do a lot of reps. Motion is good. You’ll snake in a lot in a short time. I have to get back to doing this. It really helps.
I feel validated that the much credited Dante uses the same approach.

I agree. At first I was doubtful, but after a week of doing them, I experienced great relief in my problematic shoulders. Now I do 'em every few days for maintenance.

Same here. I only started doing this on Monday and my shoulder has improved dramatically since then. I’m only doing about 25-35 reps and my hands are pretty wide still. I can only imagine how they’ll feel once I start bringing my hands in more and can do a full 50 reps in a row.

are you using a band or a broomstick? I prefer bands, because I can complete the rep, and I can gauge the amount of stretch on the band it takes. Also when it is stretched, I can relax into it and let the band assist with the stretch.

I use both actually. When I’m at the gym, I’ll use a band, but once I’m home, I use a 6’ wooden rod I bought at Lowe’s (it’s thicker than a standard broomstick). I don’t really have a preference. They both have a different feel to them and I think I get something out of using each.

You have to careful about the strength of the band though. When I first tried it with a band, I used a light band and I felt like I was going to dislocate my shoulder once the band went overhead. I had to switch to a mini band, but now that’s become too easy even when I bring my hands in.
The good part about the band, like jp_dubya said, is that you can control the amount of stretch you get through the movement. I can really focus when I’m bringing the band back and really get a strong stretch in my chest and shoulders.
You’ll notice with the band that when you bring the hands in, they’ll still move out wider during the movement, but the band will try to pull them back in.
When I use the wooden rod, I feel it more in the shoulders, and not in the chest.
