Should I Start Juicing?

yes i used that title because i thought it would get a good view/reply rate…this is my first post on T-Nation as i lay on my couch recovering from my wisdom tooth extraction…i was wondering if i should bite the bullet and step it up to the high power jack lelane power juicer instead of the piece of shit wal-mart special i currently have.

i was wondering if any readers own or have tried the juicer and does it live up to all the hype. yes this is quite the gay post but i for one think veggies taste like dog shit and drinking them and eating the pulp makes it alot easier to get a good amount in daily. any suggestions welcome

I have no idea about the juicer but I must ask: how do you not like vegetables? I was thinking about it as I ate lunch today, I love them. I was reading a post last night and someone said that if you can learn to like chewing tobacco, you can learn to like eating veggies.

I think it’s true.

well i dont chew tobacco so i dont know about that but to answer your question i guess i just never really liked them i have just always ate them because of their benifits and juicing them is quick and easy guess everyone is just wired differently ya know?

If it would produce a marked improvement in your veggie intake, then why not?

but you’ll be missing out on all of that wonderful healthy fiber

I think juicers suck. I borrowed my sisters for a week and stopped using after two days. Eat the entire vegetable…you’re missing out on a ton of nutrients when you throw it through a juicer.

Juice is for babies. Try staying away from juice all together.

Oh, I’m not saying you chew tobacco, it’s just an analogy (I don’t dip either, but I’m just sayin…). Anyway, from reading all these other posts here, it seems that juicing veggies takes away nutrients (and thusly makes consuming them more or less pointless, right?).

Have you ever tried steaming vegetables? There is nothing better than steamed veggies man, I’m telling ya.

well i hear if you consume the juice quickly after it has been juiced then there is no mineral loss whatsoever?? i could just be the biggest marketing sucker ever but that fucker lalanne is like 110 years old now so somethings working for him…

and i also eat the fiberous pulp thats left over i usually put it in some oatmeal or something…its hillarious to see the fat ass women i work with look at me like im crazy because i eat celery, carrot oatmeal instead of 8 twinkees everyday

yea i believe most of my hatred of veggies comes from the fact that i eat that shit straight out of the ground like a fucking caveman…but theres nothing better then a fresh glass of OJ/apple glutamine after some heavy lifting which you cant get from a steamer

Juice drives your insulin up. When you eat fruits and veggies RAW is slows down everything, because there’s fiber and your body needs to break down the food. When you drink the juice you get a surge of sugar. Better to eat the stuff raw.

but as i said i eat the pulp shit thats left behind in the trap from the veggies so isnt it very similar to just chewing the veggies very well?? or am i just bullshitting myself…i would agree with you if i didnt also eat the fiberous pulp that is left behind

I’ve been hearing a lot about this new Biotest “greens” product that’s set to be announced/released sometime here in the near future. I’m guessing it won’t completely negate the necessity to eat fruits and veggies, I’m sure it’ll lower the amount of actual solid food that you’d have to eat.

Until then, I still think you should cook your veggies and eat them whole. It’s a nice proven way to stay healthy.
