Just wondering if any of you around here juice as in the good ol fashioned Jack Lalanne style juicing - I admit I really dont like eating my vegetables unless their incorporated into some kick ass meals with free range meats (beef, bison, etc…) so I often juice like a maniac.
Here’s what I feel are the benefits -
You can juice and consume vastly more amounts of veggies/fruits in comparision to actually eating them (especially important when doing juice fasts for cleansing purposes and especially a critical factor in natural cancer protocols)
Almost no digestion required due to the lack of fiber
Phytochemical heaven!
Cons -
No fiber
Certain combinations dont taste great
Waste of valueable nutrients found in the fiber
Can get costly depending on what foods you decide to juice
On the whole though I would say combined with plenty of protein and other essential nutrients, this is a fantastic method to stay in optimal health.

That “no fiber” is a very very big con
juicing veggies and fruit with no fiber sounds like a good way to screw up your insulin sensitivity
Thats only if your juicing high amounts of of high-glyemic fruits and veggies. If you stick with a lot of the tried and true green veggies (usually the ones with the most benefits), thats not really an issue at all.

There are different kinds of dietary fiber, juicing alone does not remove them.
A decent intro to dietary fibre: Dietary fiber - Wikipedia
On the question as to whether I juice, no, I prefer to eat the actual fruit. I like the low preparation time.
Well then let me put it in another way… it extracts a good % of the fiber inherent in the fruit or veggie maybe not at all but a majority nonetheless.
I will admit to knowing very little about ‘juicing’, but will throw in this litle story.
WHen I was in film school, I met this very strange composer who I worked with on my student film. He was ‘older’ (I’;m not sure how old, but I was 22 at the time, so he must have beeen ancient! -lol), and certainly looked a big haggard. It came out over our conversations that he had actually had cancer, decided to turn down all accepted treatments, and in stead cure himself. He juiced the hell out of everything, fruits, vegetables… uh,… anything else you typically put in a juicer. And by his own account, one day there was no more trace of any cancer.
Take what you want from the story, it just stuck with me, so I figured I’d throw it in.

Many people who have successfully beaten cancer without resorting to standard treatment (which in all reality in many cases historically has a very poor track record) to beat their cancer. If I everhad cancer, juicing massive amounts of the most powerful anti-cancer fruits and veggies would be a high priority among other things.
Im not suprised he beat his cancer through such methods… although most tradiational oncologists would call it a fluke or “spontaneous remission” because he didnt use their proven “therapetutic” methods to treat it.
while at this point in my life, I actually, for some reason, actually enjoy eating my fruits and veggies. I find myself attacking the salad bars around town, know where allt he good ones are…and then realize I pretty much ate no protien.
anyway, I would have a hard time
spending that kind of time to eat something that, to me, comes pre-delicious.
seemingly leaves me with no fiber which is, to me, a great side benifit to stuffing myself on veggies.
im cheap, and cant see myself throwing away a good portion of my food because it doesnt turn to “juice”.
without eating copious amounts of veggies, i woudlnt be able to eat the 1 pound burger, order of fries, onion rings, 2 mini burgers and a shake for a cheat meal in 15 minutes, cementing my spot of fame at the little bitty burger barn and taking home the prized texas plate.
