Should I, Or Not, Try Steroids?

Ok, here’s my story::

I’m 35 years old and I’ve been lifting for 15 years. I’ve done pretty much every training program under the sun - old school high volume stuff, HIT, Westside, EDT, GVT, GBC, various programs by Waterbury, etc etc. I’m 6’1 and weigh about 210 lbs at ~14% bf, and I’m reasonably strong although not exceptionally so for my size. I’m pretty sure what my genetic limits are by now as far as muscle mass is concerned, and that I’m very close them. Progress has been pretty much stagnant for a long time (gain some, lose some) and I’ve accepted that, thinking of training more in terms of maintenance than progression.

Maybe I’m having a 35-years-crisis or something (haha) but I have a desire to add about 10-15 pounds of muscle. Not more than this, since I can’t afford to replace my entire wardrobe. :stuck_out_tongue: If I could be 215-220 lbs with about 10% bf that would be excellent. The problem is that I’m fairly certain I could not do this without “gear”. 220 lbs is reachable of course, but not with acceptable bf, and 10% bf is not hard to reach, but not at 220 lbs. I would probably have to get below 185 to reach 10%. Note that I’m not obsessed with numbers, these are just ballpark figures to give you an idea of what I have in mind - 10-15 lbs nicely distributed and a reduction in bf.

So I have an urge to try, and it would obviously not take a huge stack of Anadrol, Sustanon and Deca for a steroid-newbie like me to add 10-15 (I hope!). I’ve been thinking more in terms of a mild cycle of a single compound, preferably an oral for the sake of convencience. OT maybe. At the same time it would feel kind of like a defeat to have to do this now, at 35, when I’ve been “clean” for 15 years and have a pretty decent physique for a guy my age, compared to the general public that is.

Complicating the issue is the fact that I have a genetic predisposition for hair loss, i.e. male-pattern baldness. It’s not bad, but I’m sure a steroid cycle or two would not exactly improve things.

Any feedback would be much appreciated!

You sound like you have thought this out a hell of alot more then most. I would say gear would certainly help you hit your goal(s).

If you haven’t researched gear then make sure you put your time in doing that as well.

Best of luck.

well before I did a cycle Iwould get blood work done to check t levels
I am forty and was considering a cycle so taking advise from other t-men I got my levels checked and sure enough very low lvels of testosterone so will be starting replacement therapy soon
dont think 35 is to young for low levels it can happen at any age.

i second the suggestion to get your blood levels checked. you’re getting close to where HRT is a possibilty. HRT is gonna be as result oriented as a full blown cycle (because the doc is not gonna give you a ton of gear), but it’s legal, mgiht get covered by your insurance, and since you’re only looking for modest gains it might actually be feasible.

BTW, from the feedback i’ve herad on OT, some guys are using it by itself (not advanced users, but beginnners and intermediates) and reporting 10-15 lbs LBM in 6 weeks(40 mg/ED), with very few sides and maintaining most of it after PCT.

also, the steroid beginner thread should answer some of your questions as well…

Don’t do. You’ve been clean for 15 years, why give in now?
Are you sure you 've reached your genetic limit? If your answer to this is “yes”, the so be it.

Thanks for the feedback guys, appreciate it. Good call on the t-level/HRT thing, I’ll check it out.

Read and understand the entire risk/reward scenario before you make a dive. Get your t-levels, your estrogen levels and a lipid panel from your physician.

If you decide a cycle is something you want to try, do a light one first then get your bloodwork again. Check the effects on your lipids and your liver function. If the results are ok, make your decision from there.

That’s my two bits.
