Shooting Pain In Back

I’ve had this type of mild shooting pain sometimes when I lift. It was occasional, mild, and I didn’t pay any attention to it. Today, I think I’ve aggravated it doing 5X3 power cleans.

It became scary bad on the second set of front squats. I only racked the weight on my shoulders, and the pain started getting worse and worse. Kinda like my back couldn’t support it. It’s not my spine, at least I don’t think so. It’s midback, an inch or two away from the spine. It’s a shooting type of pain that resembles what a tiny tear or a nerve would feel like I guess.

I’m seeing my physical therapist tomorrow.

that would be my advice see a specialist that can address it first hand.

I had similar pain when I first did front squats. Used poor technique due to too much weight. Was a spasm in my mid trap that lasted about a week.

That said, you should still have a professional evaluate it.
