Sheiko Programs = Results!

Just a heads up to you guys. I’ve completed the beginer 1 program and during my deload (bridging between beginner 1 and 2) I planned a 3-lift test on one of the days.

My right knee somehow was acting up (it didn’t hurt at all though), so I decided to err on the safe side and only tested my bench press.

I came out with a 15 pound PR. Pretty good for 4 weeks worth of training, especially since my bench had been stuck for the last 2-3 months.

I’ll probably post results again once I’m done with beginner 2. I’m already pretty much sold though, I had so much fun I was actually looking forward to my workouts during the whole time.[/quote]

Savage. Can I ask if you upped any of the percentages or did you do them as written??

what’s your bench at now?

Did you jsut bench or did you add in different bench variations (close grip, wide grip, paused etc?)??

I’m gonna give the 4 week prep cycle a run and jsut want to know as miuch as poissible going into it!

If any of these questions aren’t ones you want answered publicaly then would you be able to PM me please?

thanks in advance bro

I did the percentages as written, but I used a tad bit lower maxes than they really were. I feel like I could have done it with my real maxes though.

My bench is a mere 240 (from 225), so I’m still pretty weak. I’ve only recently picked up interest in strength.

I had 3 bench variations: normal grip, close grip, and floor press. On beginner #2 I’m replacing close grip for board presses because I have a little sticking point mid-lift. I don’t know if it’s a wise move, but we’ll see.

Other modifications I made is I did some kind of lat work (dumbell rows on bench, pull-ups, fat-man pull-ups) instead of flyes. I also replaced sitting good mornings for one-legged deadlifts and did walking lunges with a 25pound plate on my chest instead of scissor squats, cause I didn’t know what they were.

My second squat movement of the day were front squats, and instead of pulls to knees I did stiff-legged DLs, instead of deficit pulls I did snatch grip standing on 45 pound plate. I deadlift sumo so I thought having some range of motion in my lifts would be a nice “change of pace”.

That’s pretty much it, hope it helps.

How does equipment come into the sheiko program? or is it designed for a raw lifter? i would think in a squat suit you would need for than 80% to get down

^^thanks for that man^^

The percentage you use for each lift is written off the max in that lift, so if you wanted to work equipment in then you’d use 80% of your equipped squat. But say then for the 3rd exercise (ie second squat movement) you wanted to do raw beltless squats then you’d use your raw beltless squat max and write the percenages off that. Am I explaining that well??

As for working gear in (now keep in mind I haven’t done it yet but it’s something I’m thinking about for future reference), it would make sense to use the first lif of the day in gear and the later movements raw.

I know Wade Hooper works sheiko in gear. Youtube Hoop165 and you’ll find like 10 weeks of training videos from him.

Hope that helps.

I know I’m kind of digging this thread up, but on week 1 does anyone know if the deadlifts from boxes are basically rack pulls or deficit deads?

Mike the Bear is this program just for one month or every just reuse with new maxes?

Cheers Rick

From boxes means deficit deadlifts.

Off boxes means rack pulls.

Made an error in the previous reply (stupid timelaps prevents me from editing).

He(Sheiko i.e. the translator) has two types to say deficit deadlifts, sometimes it’s “deadlift off boxes” sometimes it’s “deadlift standing on boxes”.

So for you, if you have “Monthly Training Plan - 1”, it says “deadlift from boxes” which would be rack pulls.

I hope I din’t make a mistake again.

This is purely my opinion, but being that I’ve trained with these workouts for some time, I think one should train off raw maxes. Some lifters do really well in gear and may get more than 20% carry-over, so training off those numbers may still be too high and lead to over-training.

The safest bet is to go off of raw maxes, but if you want to go off of geared maxes, I’d say take your range between 20%-30% lower, depending on carry-over.

Anyone let me know what squats-scissors are in this program please?

I love lunges. They’re awesome.
