It’s funny I’ve been thinking about doing that ever since I read that you were doing your ride this weekend. I know they don’t have any curated rides for that distance or length of time, so I would probably just do an open goal ride and setup a shelf or something to put my laptop above the Peloton screen. I would download about 5-6 hours worth of movies to watch, etc. and use that as entertainment. Honestly though, my kids have soccer this weekend so I doubt I would have the time to do it anyway.
Nice looking upper body session Shane. Very strong on CGBP and Incline. Great idea skipping lower body too. LOL
Ha ha, I would totally do the 100 miles indoor. Honestly it seems pretty nice. Don’t have to worry about cars/traffic. You have your table with all of your stuff next to you. You can watch moves or listen to music. No wind in your face? What’s not to love?
That’s cool about the apps on Peloton. I don’t have Netflix but would probably do Amazon video or YoutubeTV. I was thinking about what movies I would watch. For something like that I would probably do documentaries/movies about Navy SEALs as that usually motivates me to want to push hard on exercise. Ha ha…
Nice looking ride Shane. Surprised you’re riding right now before the big day on Saturday. Rest those legs! Nah, good pace though and way to get after it! Yeah, the indoor ride seems pretty damn nice to me. LOL
That’s it. Hamstrings both cramped on mile 73. I was about 11 miles from the truck, did a lot of there and backs, and thought I was in trouble. Lots of stretching, walking the bike for a couple hundred yards, and then later repeat stretching about every 2 miles or so and I was able to finally get it knocked out.
I know I texted you about it but wanted to say it here too. Congrats on getting that 100 mile ride done! That is truly impressive! Honestly, it is even more impressive since you hammered out the last 27 miles while dealing with hamstring cramps. Do you think that was a result of dehydration or just a massive effort? Or both? I’m taking notes in case I ever try this.
Thanks Trent. Cramping was probably a combination of both. I did take in 2000 cals of electrolytes. I used something called tailwind. A guy from work who runs marathons recommended it. I am sure I could have taken in more water and electrolytes but it’s a fine line where you are not taking in too much or you are needing to pee the whole ride too.
I hear you. That’s crazy that you were pretty hydrated and still got cramps like that. I’m terrible about not eating or drinking during a workout. When we did that 2-hour Peloton ride I hadn’t even thought about Gatorade or eating anything until you brought it up. I can see the necessity of doing so during such a long effort though. It does seem more doable riding a bike as opposed to running though. When I would do long-ish runs I couldn’t drink more than a sip of anything without cramping so I would almost always skip it. I brought a bottle of water on the half marathon but after I got about 2/3 of the way through I was sick of carrying it so I took a sip and threw it away. So one sip of water for a 13-mile run that took 2 hours. Yeah, I could never imagine having to pee during a long cardio session.
Glad you are back to lifting 4 days per week man! Maybe push legs back to the end of this week though.
