I wasn’t going to end 2021 without getting a workout in. It was 97 percent humidity and around 60 degrees. That with being sick made it easy to get the sweat rolling this morning.

Time to go take a shower, meds, and fire up the grill to get some food made to watch some football later.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year. Good night last night for my Dawgs.

It’s 11 AM here and sun is out, 66 degrees and 96 percent humidity. Going to try to get outside for a hike or something away from people.

Wife was feeling good on day 7 of her COVID so she decided to take a home test. Still shows positive. (Edit)

More good football on today and I have some ribs in the freezer I am going to cook today for dinner tonight.

Simple resolutions this year. Be less fat, move better, be more grateful.

Way to get some work in while riding out Covid. Excellent job! You’re really making me want a Peloton. Solid effort today and it sure looked like the Dawgs showed up to play last night. Looking forward to the championship game. Thanks for the shopping list too. Looks like most of that stuff is available online I’m assuming because I didn’t see much of it at the grocery store.

I’ve started feeling kind of crappy the last two days. A tiny bit of chest congestion and have just felt really tired. My kids have been coughing for two - three weeks so I’m assuming I have a touch of whatever they’ve had. Not sure if it is Covid or not. We have one at-home test, but since there are non available right now, I want to save it in case me or someone else starts feeling really bad. If I get a fever I’ll definitely take it. Hoping this passes soon. Don’t think I could train the way I feel right now. I might be OK during the workout but would probably be dead to the world afterwards. Weird stuff… The way this variant is spiking (so quickly), my guess is that it will be gone in a month.

Hope you guys keep having a good new years. The resolutions sound good.

Thank you Trent. I like the peloton a lot. I would definitely miss it if we got rid of it. Proud of that effort the Dawgs put forth last night.

Most of the stuff I ordered on Amazon. Cheaper than anywhere else I could find it.

One more thing you need is something to thin the mucus. Guaifenesin, Mucinex has it or you can but it at Costco by itself in 400 MG tabs which is what I bought. It helps to cough the mucus up.

I hope you don’t have it and if you do I hope you end up with the mild one that people are saying is more like having a cold.

Pretty sure I got the full blown COVID. Mine was definitely not just cold symptoms. Flu, body aches, bad headache, chest cold. My wife lost her sense of taste. I think the betadine helped me not lose taste and smell, but this is just a guess.

Yeah this new variant is super contagious and like you said hopefully will be gone quickly.

Rower

Hit the rower just to close my exercise ring on my watch. Hit just over 1100 meters.

Nice job on the bike and rower. You are absolutely smoking some cardio! Seems like you must be feeling a lot better now. Still feeling under the weather here today but had a very active day around the house so that helped. I have kept my move calorie goal at 600 since getting my watch. That gives me a fighting chance of reaching it on my rest days. It is sort of an arbitrary number IMO since I do take full rest days at least once per week. I’ve found that if I at least do some sort of activity on my rest day (a walk, skateboarding, etc.), then I will usually meet that goal. Literally, since right before we moved to Wilmington, I have reached that goal for 143 consecutive days, which is a current record. Hoping to keep that going. I don’t pay much attention to the other two rings.

Thanks Trent. Yeah I have been hitting cardio a little bit to check my breathing and recovery. I was definitively effected and my heart rate jumped up pretty quickly with much less effort than usual but I was able to still get in some good work.

That’s a good idea to set it to where you can reach them on your off days. I have mine set really high, 1500, and I never hit it on my off days. The blue ring, standing, is about a useless a ring as I could imagine for me but I guess some couch potatoes find it useful.

I have said it before but I wish we could customize the rings.

Moving slow in the home gym today. Going back to some old programming on squats. Working my reps up. I got the book Rebuilding Milo and am reading through it and hopefully will be able to implement some things into my training this year to improve my movement and hopefully get my hip to heal up. It didn’t hurt on the squats but they were light. That says something. I don’t think it’s a mobility problem but a movement or loading issue when the weights go up.

Solid work on the home workout. Glad to see you getting some squats in again. Those high-volume squats always seem to hurt my knees. You kept it light though so hopefully you’ll be fine. Super strong on bench, as always. The rest looked good as well.

Yeah, I was LOL’ing reading your last reply about the rings. Agree on the stand ring. I think they just wanted a third ring and that is the best they could come up with. The rings are all arbitrary if you exercise and have actual calorie burn goals in mind. That’s why I keep mine at 600. Today I have burned about 1,400 already (which is a lot for me). And in an hour this stupid thing is going to beep and tell me it’s time to stand up. :joy:

Appreciate it. I really want to squat again. Such a great exercise that I really do miss. Going to keep working to try to keep them in the routine. Going to be higher rep stuff for as long as it needs to be. Thankfully my knees are not pissed about that.

It’s funny, I was just told to stand a minute ago. Last day as a couch potato, I tested negative for the plague so I am back to work tomorrow.

Appreciate it. Worked out well, all the machines were empty when I needed them to be, plus I cut some sets out of it to get more variation in.

Thank you. I am trying.
