Sex, Squats, and Rock 'n Roll

First time back to doing lunges was just with body weight for about 80 yards straight, I finally just fell over cause I couldnt hold myself up any longer.

Humbling are the one leg exercises.

Damn it, now you guys have me thinking I need to do lunges and those bastards kill my knees.

The ones where you step forward and push back are knee killers. Hate them.

But, if you do walking ones with a reasonably long stride your shin angle will be similar to a squat. Should be friendly for your knees.

Or BSS, BB step ups

Joe I was having some serious pain in my hip when I was back squatting up until March of this year. I could warm up and put low 400’s and do reps, but in the hole my right hip would start hurting, the for the next 2-3 days I could hardly walk.

After basically rehabbing the last 6-7 months doing a lot of one leg stuff, that pain is gone.

Just my history.

Yea I do all my lunges where my knees do NOT go over my toes.

I totally keep my knee sleeves on for these.

Straight down, weight on heels to save knees.

Pissed I didn’t know you had a log here. If it makes you feel better I thought you were way under 35!

Lunges can be brutal fa sho. Keep up the awesome work, I’ll be sure to follow along.
HAHA!! Thanks, man- just turned 40

Hey, anyway I can get that blueberry pancake recipe you posted a while back.

Search is failing me.

I don’t remember posting a BB pancake recipe… All my stuff is in the “La Cucina Anabolica Italiana” thread (just posted tonight’s dinner in fact).

Behind on log…

Let’s see.

Nothing out of the ordinary–

Fri - Arms (Bi’s/Tri’s). I think I did BW + 45 for 10 dips
Sat - Off
Sun - Rackpulls (triples), upper back
Mon - Bench - 320 x 5
Tue - Squat (135x10, 225x10, 315x8, 405x10, 315x13)
Wed - Shoulders (Short, shitty workout. Probably lagged from squatting)

Arms tonight:

A1: DB Hammers
A2: Triceps Cable P/D

B1: DB Alt Curls (only two sets- uncomfortable)
B2: Dips (BW, BW+25, BW+35, BW+45, BW+50, BW+25) - top BW+50 x 8, x6, x5

C: Cable Preacher Curls

D: OH Cable Extensions

Saturday: Arms/Delts Circuit

Kid had to go the the ER in the AM. Lower abdominal pain and lump, couldn’t walk. Thought it might be appendix, hernia, or infection. Was a swollen gland (ultrasound showed).

On top of that, not feeling well (throat cold coming on) but wanted to do something. So drove 40 minutes to the gym that was open and did ‘light weight’.

6 sets each 1-2-3 x 15-20 reps. Slow reps, eyes closed, feeling out every single rep. No rest except to walk to machine.

A1: Tricep Cable P/D
A2: Cable Rope Curls
A3: Lat Raise Machine

B1: Triceps Rope P/D
B2: 1-Arm Cable Curls
B3: Rev Pec Dec

Turns out, I never had a pump in my arms and delts like I did after this workout - at least not one that made me say “That’s cool”. lol

Glad to hear the kiddie is ok.

I occasionally do things with my eyes closed. It’s ridiculous what a difference it can make.

Those ER visits are brutal aren’t they? Good to hear that all worked out.

It’s all about da pump isn’t it?

Been awhile.

Took a whole week off at the beginning of the month. Nasty cough lung virus or infection thingy after taking daughter to the hospital. I always bring something home from there.

Haven’t been eating close to maintenance for 3 weeks.

Anyhoo, on the road the past couple weeks with what amounts to ‘maintenance’ workouts. Enough to do something but nothing groundbreaking.

Benched last night, topped at 320x6 plus a bunch of 2-board close grip stuff.

Been hitting triceps and biceps several times a week at different rep ranges or just active recovery. Feeling pretty good and popping a bit.

Did back tonight. Volume has been way down since being sick and not eating, but that’s slowly coming back.

I am paying for my lunging this morning, lol. I guess I need to keep these in for a bit, they seemed to have hit some things that haven’t been worked in awhile.

It feels like I received a thousand air-noogies on my legs.
Okay I haven’t done lunges but I did two weeks of split squats and they seriously hurt my quads in a bad way. I felt like I was a mm from tearing something. The first day was fine, just doms but the following week was bad, injury on the way type pain. Maybe I went too wide.

How far apart are your legs? Is it a wide step back/forward or do you just stagger your feet a bit? Any video? I just changed to db step ups which hard bitching hard but in a good way.

Ha! No vid on those. I just grab db’s and take a step forward and keep going. I step a little wide, not sideways, but out maybe like 1 or 2 oclock, then stand straight, then next leg. As the weights get heavier, my stagger becomes straighter.

I definitely feel them the next day or 4.

Just “lunge-ing” in on the lunge chatter here.

I’ve added Reverse lunges (on SM) to my leg day and they’re doing some serious work in building up leg development.

When I do walking lunges, I step out wide as well…

I always feel like a drunk sailor doing lunges…

So… full…

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
