Lifting belts are useful when going heavy. I would use them for just that, going heavy. That could be a specific weight or a rep scheme, for me it is really hard sets or a lot of weight, anything for less than 5 reps.
To help with the grip, you can do double over grip until your grip can’t hold the weight ie you might do anything less than 275 double over (pronated). I always do my warm-ups that way. You can switch your grip around but one will usually be stronger than the other.
Chalk is good, rock climbing chalk works okay.
Do not have your upper legs parallel, it depends on your leverages but 45 degree angle is a common recommendation (assuming you are deadlifting conventional). My suggestion is do a youtube search of deadlift and try to find some people that are good that have similar builds as you (arms, legs, trunk) and watch what they do.
315 at 165 is not too shabby, get up the good work.

I have no inside info, but am betting they’re still getting the database stuff ironed out. There’s some off reporting in other areas as well. No big deal, I’m sure they know about it.
Hips: I pull sumo (medium stance) and now I can comfortably start with my thighs 30 degrees from parallel and it works great. I tried conventional long before, but couldn’t hold good form because I started with my hips almost parallel. I guess I’ll try conventional style starting at 45 degrees or less for variety, though I doubt it will be as strong.
Grip: I tried double-pronated grip when I started out and could not hold on to the bar. I’ll try again as my grip is much better now. I saw recommendation of switching grips between sets and using the strongest one on the heaviest set (pretty much what was suggested here).
Belt: I felt good doing 315x4 without the belt. I guess once I start doing 365 and more, I’ll start using a belt. I don’t plan do go lower than triples. It’d be great to pull 405 in a year.

When you alternate enough, either way (pronated right, supinated left; pronated left, supinated right) will be strong enough to pull your heaviest load.
Listen to your body. I’ll admit, I don’t like belts for deads. Don’t put it in your mind that when you hit some target, all of a sudden you need a belt. You’re setting yourself up.
Good luck on hitting that 405 before a year is up!

I just don’t want my body to tell me I need a belt when I’m trying a 3RM with for a new PB, but I got the idea.
A question as for a warm-up:
Is 6x135,185,225,285 too much warm-up for 5-6x315 (and more later) working sets?
If you are goal is to be as strong as possible on deadlift…then I suggest not switching the grip back and forth. Slows progress significantly.
With regards to the belt. The closer the stance the more benifit you will recieve from a belt. If you don’t understand what I mean A. try it or B. Think about how a belt helps on squat.
Well, today I pulled 330x5 (BWx2). And then 340x3. However afterwards I couldn’t lift 315 for more than 2 reps (after 3-4 minute rest). Is that “normal”? I felt completely spent, mentally. It’s just sad to be able to only do 2 work sets.
