we did it fam
just finished with the Dr. appointment and weighed in at exactly 140lbs, as desired.
As planned, the chicken & rice teriyaki meals for two nights prior pushed me up the last 2lbs to make sure I was at 140lbs for the weigh in.
I am setting goals with my coach for the upcoming year, hoping to keep the “lean gains” going at a slow & steady rate, targeting 0.5lbs-1lbs/month, and consistent overall general strength gains along the way.
I think its cool you’re focusing on the “Good Stuff” like gains and strength and not getting stressed and hung up on body fat equations.
yea the strength gains are a helpful “sanity check” to ensure that I really am gaining lean~ish mass, and that the overall progress is in a positive direction. Its understandable that at such a low bodyweight here, there is going to be a lot of fluctuation in percentage-based measurements I think, even my bodyweight can shift several pounds in the matter of 1-2 days.
For anyone interested in the GLP-1 topics, here is a pretty important article, the SURMOUNT-4 clinical trial itself; Continued Treatment With Tirzepatide for Maintenance of Weight Reduction in Adults With Obesity: The SURMOUNT-4 Randomized Clinical Trial - PMC
the key figure is here;
The results showed that patients re-gained weight after stopping GLP-1 treatment, even while continuing their diet & exercise counseling.
this was re-iterated in a recent follow up analysis here; Cardiometabolic Parameter Change by Weight Regain on Tirzepatide Withdrawal in Adults With ObesityA Post Hoc Analysis of the SURMOUNT-4 Trial https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jamainternalmedicine/fullarticle/2841273
Conclusions and Relevance In this post hoc analysis of the SURMOUNT-4 trial, among participants with obesity who achieved weight reduction with 36-week tirzepatide treatment, withdrawing tirzepatide led to 25% or greater weight regain in most participants within 1 year and was associated with a greater reversal of their initial cardiometabolic parameter improvements compared with those who maintained weight reduction. These findings underscore the importance of continued obesity treatment.
For context, the original SURMOUNT-1 trial results can be found here ; Tirzepatide Once Weekly for the Treatment of Obesity https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMoa2206038
The science behind all this is pretty cool. It will be very interesting to see how the Fitness fields change as the availability of these treatments increases over time.
