Hey duder! high five How you doing man? punch in the arm …I also think a noogie and/or picking him up and running around with him is a good idea.
Free membership is nice though.
Very nice. If it wasn’t for that, I would never step foot in the door again.
And they always hire hot chics for the front desks…

I think there is a stark difference in “catering to” and showing respect for anyone in the gym. I’m also not the most versed, but I would be surprised if you have used Synthol and even more surprised if at your current softer look (ie I can’t see muscle striations to really make a judgement call on use, and certainly there are no signs of overuse) anyone could make such an off-the-wall comment.
I would complain. That is unprofessional. Accusing you of using is one thing, coming up to you and saying something like that to your face unwarranted, unagitated, is clear harassment. Dude should at the least have to apologize to you in front of management. Hell, if it were my gym I’d fire his ass. Personally, as a gym/business owner, I’d only care about any “use” if it was done on my premises because I’d be liable for it, otherwise do as you need. The more hardcore gym goer’s in my gym - still being respectful of those around them - the better my gym looks.
Also, if I merely wanted a bear hug, do I have to insult you, or can I just ask? We can call it a “bro hug” if that makes it more in comraderie and less homo.
I have never used synthol, but I wouldn’t be against it. As long as it is done right and in the right spots. At this gym you get tons of off the wall comments just usually not so brazen as this guy.
Well this gym is the main one in town and holds the monopoly pretty much, so they can kinda do what they want I assume.
For sure, bro hugs all around!
Yea, I lift at home and only ventured to a local LA fitness (the new one in Greensburg if SN knows where that is :P) because a good friend from work wanted a workout partner before I left for Japan. I thankfully don’t have to deal with people bothering me here because I don’t speak enough Japanese for a full conversation and to make it especially clear I just keep my headphones in - even when my phone is dead and nothing is playing. Last night I had a trainer come up to me during calves and tried to talk, I smiled nodded and asked him to speak English, that ended the conversation. I speak more Japanese than I let on, just to be left in peace.
While at the LA Fitness there were a solid group of big dudes, some who clearly used (either present or past) and some just giants (like D1 football linebacker types - I think one actually used to play for Penn State). I’m not a huge guy, but quickly earned respect merely for coming in religiously, doing my thing, doing solid exercises and getting the ‘f’ out. Its a real pat on the back to work in with the clear alpha’s at the gym.
Anywho, one day I was working one half of the cable machine and one of the bigger guys was on the other side. He had his bag, his towel, and his water bottle at his cable. Went to get a drink at the fountain, and some teens cut in and starting working out. Dude walks back and points at his shit, then the cable, and gave him the “get the fuck out of here thumb”. Kid scurried fast as hell. We both had a good laugh and spent a couple minutes talking about how people lack respect.
I always love the jackass that comes in, does 1/4 - 1/3 rep Squat/Bench with heavy weight, then leaves the weight on the bar like its someone else’s job to clean-up. It’s never a big guy either.
We need to take back our gyms!
Also, I think your arms look awesome as they are. If you ever decide to run that type of protocol, there are some good places with solid information to ensure you get great results. But in my opinion, I think you’re doing a solid as is. Still got room to grow (though I bet your Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle shirt doesn’t feel that way :P.)

I like to bend things in a positive way when possible. And when people have such a low iq its normally easy to bend what they really meant. ![]()

He’s now your bitch. -he’s insulted a customer, been unprofessional and probably broken some happy-clappy code of conduct he signed up to.
Its a bit of a douche move, but your’e now well within your rights to complain to management and put him in hot water if he keeps annoying you. Imagine the shit he’d get in if he randomly went up to a fat chick and told her to stop stuffing her face with krispy kremes!
I’d still go for bear hugging him into a coma :0
Very true, but I have been told point blank by the owner of this gym that they don’t cater to people like me. Yet, he still gives me a free membership and tanning.
You know its perfectly legit to make fun of people who work out, but not people who are fat! Come on man!
Sounds like a sweet deal you have there.
Haha you’re right -it was your choice to be an athlete… their thyroid and beetus ‘forced them’ to eat that 12th slice of cheesecake.
I still remember when I first joined a Galaxy Fitness when I got my job after college. I was beginning Starting Strength and doing Squats in the Squat rack. One of the trainers came over and told me I was going to low and that I’d hurt myself. Said trainer then proceeded to show her trainee in another Squat rack across the room (only allowed to be used by PT’s trainees) how to properly do 1/2 and 1/4 Squats.
A few months later the same trainer came to me while on the same Squat rack and told me I need to move. I asked why and she said that her trainee needed a rack to workout at and the others were all taken. I told her by paying to be a member I had the same rights as her trainee to use the equipment - especially the stuff not designated for trainees. She literally told me that I needed to get off or she would speak with management - trainees get preference because they pay for personal training. I responded that for the money she (the trainee) spent, she got a joke of a trainer, and would be better served either self-taught or learning from someone with actually qualifications. Before I got a response, I grabbed my stuff, walked to the front desk, wrote a complaint and cancelled my sub. Got home, spent $900 on a new power rack, quality barbell, and plates and haven’t looked back - best investment decision ever.

You serious? If it isn’t retarded enough to assume everyone uses the same weights in the gym as the personal trainer, he throws that on top aswell?
Sounds like he’s very very VERY jealous lol!
Well done for not snapping his spineless back in half.

He’s “negging” you. It’s pretty obvious that he wants to be your friend, lol, or trying to pick you up, lol. He’s just going about it in an…um…awkward way.
Ask him how much he weighs. After he answers say ‘great, that fits my macros’. Proceed to walk closer to him with a smile and crazed look in your eye.

The real funny part is that I have the same TNMT shirt so I know where you go it. That and yours would be a sleeping tent for me.

Sweet Jesus… It’s a good thing I’m not as big and strong as you. That guy would have gotten his arms ripped off and then beaten to death with them.
I don’t know how you can restrain yourself. I’ve heard that about a lot of enormous guys though actually. You hear people describe Brian Shaw and Mike Jenkins and Koklyaev and Svend Karlsen and all those monsters as the nicest, most patient people ever lol.
What’s going on Bauber? Once you get so huge does your brain just start saying things like “Well it already takes like 6000 calories just to keep this behemoth of a body alive, and we have to do a set of 20 deadlifts with 600lbs later. I don’t think we can spare the energy to crush this guy.”
