No. It is no longer a bar. Its a PLATE.
Collars are plates too. But not PLATES!
They’re too small.
(it helps if you bang your fist on a table when you say PLATE!)

Oh yeah, The repetition method is great if you respond to the repetition method.
You should probably investigate some techniques to determine dominant fibre type per muscle group though.
It’s effectiveness may also be reduced with training age, whether this is due to a shift in fibre type, neurological adaptations, recovery ability, or a whole slew of other factors is a crap shoot though.
The disdain that some people have for Serge Nubret…one of the worlds best bodybuilders (who is STILL in phenomenal shape) just saddens me. Why comment if all you’re going to contribute is sardonic smart-ass remarks…why?
If you think Serge is such an idiot with regards to his training methods, post your pics and tell us how you train.

Please…I’d be interested.
When did TC say he was going to ditch the forum?
Yesterday would be too soon.[/quote]
I don’t think anyone is really busting on him, just parroting the internet experts.
Maybe he was doing the most sacrilegious of all weight training taboos and had 3 plates on one side with a 35 and a 10 added then on the other side he had 4 plates. Or maybe he’s a douchebag. (The fact I even went back and edited this to make my shitty example of this shitty argument add up to 7 plates makes me a douchebag.)

so, a BB should be able to walk into any PL meet and do REAL well. in that case, BB should do that. talk about a great way to cycle training…pick a meet, train your way, go in and stomp the crap out of the would be winner in your weight class.
then you can start the next round of training with your new 15rep max

Don’t agree with the old “stairs” thing, but as a competitive PL’er, the rare times I’ve seen BB’ers try a PL comp, they were pathetic. Same for strongman. I’m ashamed to admit I and my cohorts loved to make fun of the weak BB’ers in the past. You gotta realize, they train for cosmetic purposes, we trained for limit strength.
powerlifting - large metal discs calibrated to exact weights to be placed on a bar and lifted to competition regulations
bodybuilding - large porcelain discs cleaned to be loaded with food to be placed on a table and lifted to mouth and eaten (the food not the plate but hey, sometimes the plate too)
strongman - some kind of automotive, household or farming implement that either represents sponsors or envokes nostalgia for the old days, that is somehow connected to a similarly bizarre object (log, pole, chain, car) and then lifted, dragged, dropped or tripped over repeatedly.
commercial gym - non impact, non exertion exercise device designed to cut up and pack on the beef whilst watching TV or listening to iPod

Hey, if you ever get chased by a bodybuilder, don’t fret. Just find a set of stairs and climb up. These guys can’t get past 3 steps cause that’s all it takes to get on stage. A while back, there was a contest, and the stage had five steps…Yo man, they had to use the forklift to get all of them on top! Now they always make sure to ask before renting a venue. True story.
It’s true, bodybuilders are actually a form of Dalek.

Sweet! A Dr. Who reference…I may be the only one in this country to get it.
For those who are interested, Serge Nubret is participating in several forums, here’s a link to one of them:
As far as the 7 plate argument goes, it was 7x45lb on one side, I managed to take a picture due to the fact that the monster was way too busy working out his core to pay any attention to me.
