Hey, if you ever get chased by a bodybuilder, don’t fret. Just find a set of stairs and climb up. These guys can’t get past 3 steps cause that’s all it takes to get on stage. A while back, there was a contest, and the stage had five steps…Yo man, they had to use the forklift to get all of them on top! Now they always make sure to ask before renting a venue. True story.
It’s true, bodybuilders are actually a form of Dalek.

my buddy at the gym can bench around 7 plates, i seen him do it at least twice, hes maybe 185 or so i think
i ain’t nearly that strong as he is, but i can bench press around 4 plates, i’m around 190 and 6 foot tall
sometimes we do shoulder press, i can do 3 plates on that for about 10 reps.

Your 185lb buddy can bench 7 plates per side (raw)? Based on the wilkes formula, doing that just once, at that bodyweight, in a sanctioned competition would give him the all-time pound-for-pound world record bench press across every single federation in existence, and would rank him in the top 5 of all time at any bodyweight.
If he did that in competition at that bodyweight he would be on the cover of every muscle magazine he would have endorsement offers from every supplement company and could make a fortune selling his training secrets. please PM me, as i’m helping out with a meet next month. we would love to have him there.

Yeah, 630 @ 185 sounds like a bit much.
Maybe he meant 7 plates total? 315 at 185 doesn’t sound crazy.

Could you at least keep your trolling within the realm of reality? Yeah, you overhead 315x10 and your buddy benches just under 700 pounds. And this would be the same buddy telling you to do DNP, yeah?
Seriously, bring your A game if you’re going to troll because this shit is just stupid.

My personal trainer can bench 9-1/3 plates. I seen her do it.
Serge Nubret was a bodybuilder, not a powerlifter. He loved BODYBUILDING. He only maxed out once ever 3 or 4 months. The he worked out was 3-5 exercises per bodypart, 6 sets per exercise, 10-20 reps per set. He had a rest period of 30secs between sets. He did two body parts per workout.
HE DID LIGHT WEIGHT. He trained for the pump. His max bench was 495 lbs at 198lbs but trained with 154-220lbs. Everyday, he ate 6lbs of horse meat, 0.5 lb of rice and 0.5 lb of beans 3 months from competition. He owns a gym where most guys follow his system to tremendous success. By the looks what Waterbury has been writing lately, Nubret was 40 years ahead of his time.

You think nubret was ahead of his time? His training philosophy was pretty much in line with what many other believed and what many BBers follow today.

And yet, many have tried to re-invent the wheel with lackluster results. You are right.

There he goes again. It may tell YOU, but there appears to be a pronounced paucity in the world at large and in this game in particular these days. Be careful jumping to conclusions about how common all this sense is.

But he also said he did 3 plates for overhead press. Does that mean he’s bragging about pressing 135?
Also, what’s with the odd number of plates then? Is the 7th and 3rd plate balancing on the middle of the bar? Or is the lingo so cool these days that we’re now referring to the 45 pound “bar” as a “plate” along with the rest of the weights?

That would be a bit asymetrical for that much weight.
I’m laughing at how “pretty clear” it was that the bar was tilted to one side for some strange reason.
Agree…Seems results speak for themselves IMVHO…Apparently even that is not good enough for some…

He obviously did not know what he is doing. That is all genetics and drugs.
Just imagine what he would look like if he trained right.
