I just started doing Semi-fasted cardio (incline walking), and it’s going well. I was just curious how long I should wait until I do my weight workout after this? I do my Semi-Fasted Cardio at 5:15AM. As soon as I’m done the cardio I eat a breakfast of about 800 or at 6:45AM. Then I am typically waiting until 2PM to get my weights in. But sometimes I’ll have to hit the weights earlier, at say 11AM. Is that enough still enough time?
When I refer to Semi-Fasted Cardio I am talking about the kind Lonnie Lowery describes in which you have caffeine prior to the walk and then you drink a serving of MAG-10 during for those who haven’t read the article.
Last spring I had good results eating nothing but 10g of BCAAs in the morning, so I guess you’d call it semi-fasted, then immediately lifting weights immediately followed by treadmill walking. I leaned down quickly, and my lifts did improve some as well, but not at the rate they normally do. I was following a very stripped down version of 5/3/1. Just the main lift and one assistance exercise, then either incline treadmill walking or a quick Tabata rowing bout. I leaned down quickly with this, and was able to maintain and even gain a little strength, but obviously was not putting on any appreciable mass.
Now that I think of it, I want to do that again this year. It was pretty painless as far as weight loss strategies go.
